Park Tce Salisbury rail crossing

That could be difficult because Salisbury Hwy is sunk under the railway less than 400 metres away. :( Something needs to be done there though.

October 24 2002 , since then the level crossing should of been eliminated by now

Park Terrace also has the standard gauge line across it, so gradients would likely need to be longer than if it was just the metropolitan lines.

Is the railway far enough from the intersection to build a road bridge over the railway and get back down to junction level? (assuming that property access can be found somehow).

It's 165m along Park Tce from the railway line to the Salisbury Hwy intersection, 75m along Park Tce from the railway crossing to the Gawler St junction and 400m along the railway line from Park Tce to the Salisbury Hwy overpass. IMHO, the only solution that would work would be to partially sink the railway line, patrially raise Park Tce and close off the Gawler St junction. That, coupled with property acquisions north and south of Park Tce, would not be cheap.

The solution will be a lot easier if the freight by-pass part of the Northern Connector is ever implmented as the absence of freight trains on the Salisbury line will permit a steeper gradient on thee rail line.

I live a few blocks away from the Salisbury Park Terrace crossing.

The best bet would be to put Park Terrace in a box culvert and put it underneath the rail line. The whole immediate area is a mess that is well overdue for a modern and practical upgrade.

It would be ideal in my opinion to reduce the traffic along Park Terrace first, perhaps by widening and upgrading Commercial Road some distance to the east as basically a bypass of inner Salisbury. Several speed limits in the vicinity need to be reduced and the carpark to the immediate east of Salisbury Interchange should be converted into a public plaza.

The problem is the many number of things all within the close area; the level crossing, the train platform & the bus interchange, the exits onto the road for that, the entrances to the nearby pubs and businesses, the intersection up into the shopping area, and the lowered Salisbury Hywy. All of this needs to be catered for somehow. There's many interfaces and many levels to deal with. Changing one affects a load of others.

elevate the line from Kings Road to Commercial road and build the rail portion of the northern connector so freight doesnt need to go through Salisbury

Couldn't the cost of sinking the rail line be partially offset by the huge development potential of the new land made available above the sunken line? This would still be costly, but it could significantly change Salisbury for the better, and really give the opportunity for a proper TOD mixed use community.
