For a piece of land that is that narrow, there isn't exactly a lot of space to do something creative with that is still feasible for the developer to have constructed.

Hopefully construction will commence soon with such strong sales.

Went past there yesterday (Saturday) and a fair bit of demolition had already taken place. I guess today there should be very little left.

Cheers

Ive always wondered why my beloved Adelaide is so anti basement level/s carparking?

I'm with you Fish - when I was over in Sydney, I think it was the World Tower development, but they had this 'slip' lane from the street into the site that went into an underground carpark. It really was the most novel idea I had seen, as it utilises and maximises the space used within a building site.
The CoH project was originally proposed with this concept, but was rejected.

I think the ACC should strongly encourage developers to direct their carparks underground. It would help free up more potential room for development to occur on existing above-ground carparks, and also provide for streetscapes to be developed without the sight of obtrusive surface level and above-ground carparks such as Rundle Convergence.

There's quite a few of those in Sydney. The one you're referring to is the one linking Pitt Street to the underground carparks of the World Square complex. It makes sense in Sydney, the buildings that get constructed on the sandstone under the CBD are often large, and it's more economical to put the carparks underground and everything else above that.

One thing you'll notice about Melbourne and Adelaide buildings is that most carparks are above ground level. There isn't much of an incentive or a need to put the carparks underground in these places because there's still reasonable amounts of land to build large carparks above ground, and it is also more expensive to put them underground in the clay-like soils that both cities sit on than in Sydney where the city sits largely on sandstone.

This site was cleared over the weekend and looked like piling was about to commence.

Drove past on Friday and lots of work on site. Even though this is a very small site i'd imagine they would still use a tower crane? I'd expect it to go up after Christmas break maybe in Feb.

It's a very small site I noticed. The block of land would not be much bigger than a block of land in the suburbs.

The building wont leave much of a footprint but will be suitable for the student
market it hopes to capture. Pricing and location very reasonable.
