The building on the corner of Franklin and Bentham Streets is heritage listed. The buildings that will be demolished are closer to KWS. The buildings are a a collection of 1960's style low-rise buildings.Snorkie wrote:Will is that gonna be that building in the photo that i posted of the spire site in the spire thread, i.e. the one on the corner of Franklin and bentham, or will it be closer to KWS, cause not to sure as to where this site is, as the proposed hotel is also meant to go next door to this one if im not mistaken...

Starting to get excited by this one now, only demolition though I suppose at this stage. First pic is from Saturday 16/12 and the others are from today. So glad to see some of the worst buildings in Adelaide being domolished. Some nice views have been created as a result too, particularly of CC1. Big antenna structure being taken down by that temp crane too. It's all happening at City Central
Adelaide feels like a different city to live in at the moment, really alive, development everywhere. Makes a nice change after so long and with the tramline extension next year and all the development that buzz around the city should continue.

Thanks for all the photographic updates UrbanSG!
Good to see that those ugly shops are no more. However I should advise everyone that this demolition does not represent work actually starting on CCT3. According to the developers CCT3 will be ready in 2009-10, so the most likely explanation is that the site will be used as a car-park for a couple of years.

I think I may have stumbled accross a new render of CC3 and not sure if i like it. It's same theme as CC1 & CC2 however is a bit more random and includes orangy/brown features.
When they said all buildings on this block were going to be green I didn't think they meant literally. I guess it will be a bit unique to have a whole city block decked out in the same colours / patterns.

I don't think that's CC3, I'm 90% sure that's the GPO development.
The renders I've seen for CC3 (like a month ago) looked nothing like that.

It could be but it's one of the two because it's on the corner by the looks of it. I wouldn't have thought the post office though and I hope not because that sitting on top of it would look ridiculous and would not mix with the heritage building at all.

Spoke to someone today behind this development who will be sending me more renders and info but said it is due for completion in 2008 and take just over 12 months so should commence soon. She also said the private investment of CC3 has been finalised and no more capital needs to be raised...
