With the crane coming down, I thought it would be interesting to look back at the history of this thread. It goes back ages!! Anyway, I thought this post from Ben in 2015 was worth sharing again!Ben wrote:Thankfully the orignal got rejected. This is now on DAC website for Thursdays upcoming meeting.

Building is 35 levels (27 levels of apartments above a podium and 5 levels of carparking. If built would be our 4th tallest.

The final outcome of this is what all future tall projects need to aspire to. Brilliant.

Finally, they have removed the big metal platform they had over Austin Street giving the first uninterupted view of the front of the building, lots of work happening in the renaissance arcade area and the foyer section some work happening but not much. Here is a view of the front of the building looking up, both the worker lifts are near/at the top but once this lift system is removed this will be a stunning view, almost a tourist attraction

I almost wish that gold base/podium continued all the way to the top... like a giant gold bullion on its side. But I'm very grateful they went for the curvy shape instead of just going up in a straight line along the balconies.

The crown of the building is finished in the same gold, so at least there's that.Plasmatron wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 7:24 pmI almost wish that gold base/podium continued all the way to the top... like a giant gold bullion on its side. Looks fantastic, and so much better than that original render.

Yep, something very standout for Adelaide.
I would be pissed if I'd paid big money for a west facing apartment in the Adelaidean and had to see this looking much more impressive every day.

Wouldn't you prefer living in the Adelaidean with a view of the Realm each morning/afternoon over vice versa?

Good point, great "devil's advocate" view but no, cos I would die of envyTranny1990 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 10:42 amWouldn't you prefer living in the Adelaidean with a view of the Realm each morning/afternoon over vice versa?
