I'm very glad the facade didn't end up like the render above. As it is it has turned out very boring but at least reasonably smart.

Not sure mate. Guess the current design is something that came out of negotiations with the ACC and Apple were willing to treat the store as more in line with their stand-alone rather than mall stores.Ben wrote:

First fitout application i've seen. No indication as to what it is but i'm thinking food court tenancy judging by the companies history and the basement location.

Just an idea, but that could be a screen that works as a shade in that render, it might be made from steel or something similar thats installed at the very end. Who knows.
The building IMO isnt the worst building going around, but what made it look so much worse is the choice of glass and framing for the Rundle Street Facade, honestly clear glass and brown trim, thats so boring and already outdate. The front and office tower however are looking rather nice though!

That render lloks like the back end of some development that majors in some other direction. Missing the awning a MAJOR mistake no weather cover - helps make the impression of unimportance re Rundle Mall. Disappointing to say the least - poor statement being made as it is.

I'd say that having Apple in the Mall sends out a bigger message than an awning stopping short and I would think that 15m without weather protection's not gong to kill or even detract anyone.

The silver cladding will still happen as part of the shop fit out. Apple even use their own special glazing for their stores, so don't expect that either until fit out occurs.Pants wrote:Not sure mate. I know you can only go off the renders and current progress of the building at this stage , and sure thing everyone can have their point of view thats what the site is for . Having said that I'm a chippy by trade and the amount of clients that say to me half way through construction " oh wow i thought i would look different to that" or " your renders looked different" ..... are generally surprised and satisfied when the project is 100% complete Im sure Apples influence and finishing of touches will leave the Rundle Mall facade looking ridgy didge.

I know it's only Harris Scarfe, but my goodness the Mall end of this looks really poor, it is such an ordinary design.Pikey wrote:The silver cladding will still happen as part of the shop fit out. This earlier design would have looked a little bit nicer at least:

Second food court tenancy. maybe the Basement is the first stage to open?

The "earlier design" is pretty much how it is going to look, except it won't have a canopy over the Apple store part of it. Personally I think that is a poor decision which degrades the overall aesthetics of the facade, but not all that much. It's not as if it's a beautiful building anyway, but at least it's reasonably decent looking from Rundle Mall.

Rundle mall crane is down today. Meaning the shopping centre fitout can step up.
