Bit confused as to this one. It was lodged by Urban Construct and appears to be on or around the old bus station site. But it's offices?

Thanks for the info Ben. It is even better news, it is the big old motors site directly east of the new Bus Station Terminal. :D

I reckon this one could be trying to get the new police headquarters contract with a likely large floor plate and ground floor retail area.

Sounds promising. More bulk and density heading west!

Sorry about the clunky attachment, don't know how to do it properly.

Makes sense, as Truscotts moved out of there a few months ago.

Norman: Forgive me if I'm wrong since I haven't been in Adelaide since November. Truscotts are in the next building to the east, on the corner of Pitt Street. The building on the site is a former warehouse that is currently used as a car park.

I agree that this is not part of "The Precinct" development. Looks like a new project, which is great. I've always found it a bit embarrassing that there's a fair few old warehouses like this one in the west that are just being used as car parks and nothing more. Good to see at lease one will soon bite the dust.

They have already started to underground the powerlines.

Sounds promising, Franklin Street is going to be much better in a few years time.

Adelaide powerlines in the city will go underground after Adelaide City Council on approved a $16 million plan, reported The Advertiser (26/9/2007, p.28).

Ten-year project: In partnership with the State Government’s Power Line Environment Committee, the council has targeted 19 priority areas. Work is expected to start this financial year and will take about 10 years to be completed. A further 70 under-grounding projects around the whole council area are set to be undertaken over the next 30 years. Lord Mayor Michael Harbison said the plan had support. “The undergrounding proposals represent a significant and long-term investment,” he said. “It is clear residents, businesses and developers… strongly support the undergrounding of power lines.”

The Advertiser, 26/9/2007, p. 28

Ill be old and grey by the time they finish this off!

Urban Construct are putting their signage on the carpark, so hopefully we will see this move as fast as their other projects.
