Few more renders to boot:

As others have said, I like the design. The latticework façade is stunning. But I think an equally great design could have been achieved that acknowledges the heritage on site.

Love the lattice design on this. Reminds me of the Macqurie Bank building in Sydney. Should look good if it gets completed.

I note that the plans include an Executive Lounge meaning it has to be one of the high end chains.

With the Sofitel securing a place on Currie, and the Westin on Victoria Square, I wonder if this could be the new location for the Intercontinental. Their property at North Terrace is looking terribly dated

The hotel design looks good and is a decent height, but I think I prefer the original proposal from back in 2010 8)

The facade of that heritage building should be preserved, maybe move it down the street in front of the ACC building so that it's right next door to the Epworth Building.

If that latticework is lit up at night, it could be a real stunner.

Ah - thanks Ben. I did read about the hotel group but I didn't know if it was still them that were developing and owning it.

This was approved. They were happy for the heritage facade to be demolished if they include a plaque or artwork to commemorate the buildings history...

Or they could've just left the facade. Like they've done over at Realm. :wallbash:

Excuse my ignorance but what would be an estimated time line of when this will be built, great looking building imo

Either it is heritage and you keep it, or it is not and you demolish it. Putting a plaque up is such a ridiculous gesture and very symbolic of the lack of coherent vision within the planning process.

The building isn't worthy to be kept, but worthy of being commemorated with a plaque? :applause:

On the plus side, it will have some comedy value. Like the plaque I saw on a wall in this little village on the border with Austria yesterday. It was commemorating the fact that "it is possible" that a famous playright named Jara Cimrman walked past the building.

Looks like GHD have recycled their cladding design for Barwon Water HQ in Geelong. Boring shape aside, this could end up being quite the looker.

I'm not 100% sure but it looks like that heritage facade has been butchered at some point in the past - the big rectangular windows don't look like they're the right scale compared to the other features. If that is the case then that might have some sway on the decision of whether it's worth keeping or not.

Correct. It’s also just the facade, there’s nothing original behind. Complete mess at the back.

I’d suggest it’s corner neighbour has just as much right to be preserved given it was pretty much the last brutalist building built in Adelaide, and is actually fully intact.
