I'm not expecting this one to get approval for two reasons. Firstly it is to only cost $2,850,000. At this price we could not expect anything of standard. to put it into context the 8 level Carpark to be built on Franklin street has a cost of $11,800,000 so if an 8 level arpark is costing 4 times the amount as a 13 level apartment building.... well need I say more.

And secondly because of this low cost the council will be assessing it without any involvement from ther DAC thus reducing the liklihood of approval even more.

I suspect this is a clerical error. There must be a missing 0. I do not think it is possible to build a 13 level building for that price!

I'm suspecting the site of this will be located on the carpark behind the Australian Pizza House due west of iPad.

iPad technically covers 302-304 Waymouth Street, and 306 doesn't "exist" as such (not an affixed address) but the land title of 306 Waymouth probably still does, that being the carpark - simply on the basis that property access to the carpark can only be accessed via Waymouth Street.

The original application was withdrawn on 5/08/2010 and now a new one lodged at one less level. Not sure something of this height in that area will get approved as AAL are likely to have objections.
Type: Development Application Received
Application Number: DA/666/2010
Lodgement Date: 1/09/2010
Location: Land, Rear of 302-306 Waymouth Street, ADELAIDE SA 5000
Description: Construct 12 level student accommodation building on vacant land.

"Rear of 302-306"? Is this that little carpark that's at the back of the On The Run, off Clifton Place?

BTW, wasn't iPad 29m for 9 levels? So this would be 17m taller for 4 extra levels?

12 levels will be around 42m - right? The OLS limit is ~40m so it *might* get past any aviation concerns. The ACCs height limit in 28m.

Is this over $10m?
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

yeh this was for the previous proposal I would say this would be about 42m now which is still i think double the height limit of about 20m for West terrace?

Wayno as this is over 5 levels it automatically goes to the DAC.

Looks a bit like an afterthought to stop it looking like a 3B (Big Beige Box).

They'd be to shade the afternoon sun.

It almost looks like an extension. Since it is taller I assume it had it's own lifts, stairs and lobby.

I read it as a taller part that adjoins the two parallel wings (they have a light well in between them maybe?) -- like a U shape.

This proposal was withdrawn by the developer, and the site is now for sale.

This development is dead.
