Apparently this is called “Spence on light” now but I can’t find any new renders or info.
Yeah
"Spence" a shitload less money on the design
Named after Catherine Helen Spence I would assume. The social political reformer portrayed on the five dollar note. There’s a statue of her in Light Square.
Cheers

I went to a state primary school named after her in Aberfoyle Park too, but it got rationalised in the early 00s, and merged with another one named after Hans Heysen to form a new school, with even more pupils per teacher, called Thiele

So this is social housing as alluded to earlier on.... I do have concerns about them putting so many social housing apartments in the same area rather than spread out. I believe the launch is tonight.

What is "social housing"? Does that mean Housing Trust (or whatever organisation has replaced that), or is it the same as "Affordable housing", or some other concept entirely?

from their facebook page:
" South Australia’s Human Services Minister, The Hon Michelle Lensink MLC, launches Housing Choices’ fantastic new Spence on Light affordable and social housing project, in downtown Adelaide.
The building will be named after pioneering South Australian Catherine Helen Spence, a suffragist and advocate for social reform.
Preserving City Mission Hall’s historic façade, we’re building 75 new architect-designed apartments for vulnerable, older South Australians and those living with a disability.
This is a unique funding and development partnership with the SA Housing Authority, ACH Group and the Marshall Government."

There is a render on the Tiser site. East facing looks ok, but blank walls to the north and south.

Most of $25m Spence on Light apartment complex to be set aside for social housing
Lauren Novak, Social Policy Editor, The Advertiser
A 13-storey apartment building offering affordable housing in the city will be named after a pioneering South Australian woman.
The $25 million Spence on Light development will feature 75 apartments on Light Square, including 40 owned by the State Government.
It is named in honour of suffragist Catherine Helen Spence, who advocated for the vote for women and was named among The Advertiser’s list of 125 Ceiling Smashers.
The building’s 75 accessible one and two-bedroom apartments will include 53 affordable and social housing apartments, 16 group apartments and six apartments for people living with disability.
The South Australian Housing Authority has bought 40 of the apartments at a cost of $14.5 million.
ACH Group has bought 16 group apartments and the remainder will be owned by Housing Choices SA.
The development will also include a ground floor space and community cafe for residents and visitors.
Human Services Minister Michelle Lensink said it would increase affordable housing options in the city, particularly for older homeseekers and those with a disability.
The project is designed by South Australian architecture firm Tectvs and will be built by Hindmarsh Construction.
It is expected to be complete by mid-2020.

I wouldn’t mind this if they had atleast classes the front with another colour other than white. Does not integrate with the heritage building well.

I can't find a render of the north or south, where did you see that? With 75 apartments, I'm not sure how they could get away without at least light wells on those sides.
