News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
News: Adelaide City Council
Hello everybody, I have created this thread to discuss development news from the ACC which do not warrant a separate thread. This is like the low to mid rise development thread.
I'll start by discussing the happenings of the July 3 ACC DAP meeting.
*After being knocked backed a few weeks ago due to it being considered ugly, the new design for the plaza of the Grenfell Centre were approved. The new design will involve the creation of 2 new retail tenacies fronting Grenfell Street. The new retail tenancies will be glass cubes, made from see-trough glass so as not to diminish the strong imposing symmetry of the Grenfell Centre. The development will also include the creation of a new underground carpark for 30 cars, as well as a new lobby for the building.
This development has been compared to the glass pyrammid at the Louvre in Paris!
*The LED screen for the City Cross Arcade was also given planning approval. The LED screen will cover most of the central section of the city cross facade fronting Rundle Mall. The LED screen will screen news, events such as the World Cup, limited advertising, as well as views from the other LED screens which will be put up in Australia's other 4 over 1 million cities.

Just got this e-mail from my friend in the council.
The main features are that there will be a ACC DAP meeting this monday 17 July, however despite the claims made by the 379 KWS developer, this proposal will not be debate upon this month. Therefore without development approval and or development approval for the demolition of the present structure this development cannot start this month as indicated in the Advertiser.
Nothing really interesting will be approved this coming monday, it will be basically houses, townhouses. The most exciting development is probably the Liquorland on the corner of Gouger and West Terrace will be torn down, as well as the derelict car yards next to it, and in its place a 3 level mixed use, office and showroom building will be built.
However the most interesting news is that on July 6, developers lodged plans to build a 11/12 level apartment building featuring 17 apartments in the land at 22A Moger Lane. This development is worth $2 million and it has been classified as Category 1 by the council.
And for those who don't know, Moger Lane is off Tam O'Shanter Place.

Yes you are right Pikey, it was originally 7 levels, but with the new development regulations put in place in January such developments are now complying. The same thing happened with 379 KWS, it was originally proposed at 7 levels.Pikey wrote:THREAD CLEANDED UP.
Top effort with the sourcing Will. Wasn't the Moger lane jobbie origionally 6 of 7 levels?
I heard that there was a redesign in terms of floor and height. Smaller floorplates and taller. From what I've heard there was going to be a residential building incorporated at the current site.
I thought the redesign was happening due to no demolition occuring, but if this thing isn't going to be built until 08, that might explain the lack of activity.
