So lunchtime and after knock-off time for the construction industry?...though visits by the Advertiser at midday and 4:30pm yesterday failed to confirm this.

Exit on the right in the direction of travel.
[COM] Re: 114 Waymouth Street | 78m | 26lvl | U2 Apartments
I drove past this morning, plenty of workers on site.
[COM] Re: 114 Waymouth Street | 78m | 26lvl | U2 Apartments
there was nobody on site at 1.30 pm today 16 Nov 17

Wow a site like that must haemorrhage cash even with no one on-site. What does a crane like that cost per day?

Does anyone else fear that this site could become an eyesore if it falls through?
[COM] Re: 114 Waymouth Street | 78m | 26lvl | U2 Apartments
I wonder what the situation is with the employees of built environs. I imagine they wouldn't be too happy to sit at home without pay.
[COM] Re: 114 Waymouth Street | 78m | 26lvl | U2 Apartments
Can they be deployed on other built environs sites or are people usually hired to work on a specific project?
There was a couple of guys from the crane company entering the site when i strolled past this morning but no other activity to note and the crane cabin itself was unoccupied.

I walked past the site earlier today and it was dead. This surely must be the end of the road for Datong or whatever they
call themselves these days. First we saw the 'Construction has started' fiasco then they came up with the 'Dominator 1' name
and now they've gone broke. Not good for Built Environs but they might not have done enough due diligence when they
decided to work for Datong.

Seriously shut the fuck up ghs. Where have you read that they have gone broke. They have been off site for 5 days, who says they won't resume next Monday?
[COM] Re: 114 Waymouth Street | 78m | 26lvl | U2 Apartments
Many sites around the city have been pretty quiet this week. With the combination of hot weather and also possible storms rolling through I am not too surprised. Sometimes there are also scheduled RDOs.
With the article in the paper there is obviously some sort of disagreement. Probably over charges for variations. These things happen. It will get sorted and then they will finish the job.

It's been a couple of weeks now and I would imagine that the problem is that Built Environs haven't been paid recently. As mshagg pointed out earlier there's
a lot of financial issues involved in a construction site sitting dormant. So it's fair to say that there's some serious problems which won't be solved
overnight. Furthermore given Datong's track record you can't blame me for being cynical.

I lean toward their being some strong doubts about this project unfortunatelyghs wrote:It's been a couple of weeks now and I would imagine that the problem is that Built Environs haven't been paid recently. As mshagg pointed out earlier there's

It has been a difficult one to get off the ground and with financial issues and the developers track record it could be a long delay

Well if this development is destined to be a hole while under construction or SWP, shit happens. If you ignore Le Cornu, Adelaide City hasn’t had something like this for decades. No it’s not nice but one of the many developments going on was bound to fail at some point. I’m glad it was U2 because it’s not a huge loss.
U2 led us on to be curvy and sexy like my ex girlfriend but the more recent renders turned out to look like complete ass sweat (also like my ex girlfriend).

What's strange is I assume finance was in place for it to even start. All commercial builders confirm the funding is in place for the whole project before they start or even touch it. It also wouldn't make sense for the financier to withdraw their funding (without a material reason) as they could be sued for millions. Does anyone know who the bank/financier is? My only thought is maybe the financier is in trouble?
