I read recently that the state govt was seeking approx 26,000sqm office space for undefined departments. Logically parliamentarians etc will move to this site. There was speculation some time ago that CBA was looking for new premises.how good is he wrote: ↑Tue May 08, 2018 12:45 amDoes the forum think (as I do) that the Govt will be the major tenant to lease the new office tower? It would be ideal for the pollies to be directly adj. Parliament House in new digs. Added by the fact the former Govt tried to sell off all the ageing state admin buildings around Victoria Square. Btw, anyone know what is happening to that after all the previous deals collapsed?

The crane base for the first crane in this area will be installed the week ending the 25th. A second crane to follow. Still believe the site is in the process of being handed over from the first builder to the successful builder on the skycity project.Mr Smith wrote: ↑Mon May 07, 2018 1:24 pmIn the crane counter thread updated recently by Ben I note that the Festival Plaza Tower is listed as commencing in May 2018. Is there anything definitive about that date or pure speculation?Ben wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 10:58 amThe article falls short of specifying the building proper is under construction. They would not build this without tenant pre commitment which also has not been announced. I'd take this with a grain of salt. Also mentions building as 23 levels which is of course wrong.

Festival Tower is definitely not starting this month. Tower construction won't start until next year at the earliest. There's a huge amount of demolition and retention works to complete first in order to prepare the site for the carpark construction. If we're lucky we might see some piling/pilecaps for the tower by the end of the year, but there is a lot to do before then.

The article also doesn't mention that most of the 200,000sqm of vacant space is low grade. Can't remember where I read that though.Ben wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 10:58 amThe article falls short of specifying the building proper is under construction. Does anyone have the latest DA submission for this project? Would like to look at the design in more detail.

The building hasn't gone out for tender yet. Builder isn't known currently.

The bars now around the Festival Plaza were quite busy tonight. Can’t wait to see how the area will transform once the plaza, casino expansion and office tower are complete. What a transformation.

I hope those dead grass plants in the photo aren't indicative of the standard of landscaping to expect in the finished products. Dead grass seems to be quite a popular landscape selection in public areas...someone should tell whoever is responsible it is not a good look!
