Please tell me the dark brown brick around the Festival Centre is being recladded? Gosh, it really makes the building so dated.
I hope so too. (Mission) Brown everywhere is such a 1970s curse.
Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but more brown brick has gone up on the northern facade. It ain’t going.

I’m far far far happier that the redevelopment (both externally and internally) is faithful to the original building.

And it’s brown brick. Mission Brown was a paint finish.

I agree with you, it's nice to see them sticking to the old design principle. Besides, the renders for this actually make the brown brick look quite sleek, a Scandinavian feel.

Just FYI there's a good overview of Festival Plaza from the top floor of the Casino. But you need a valid reason to get up there in the lift.

...And a completely unrelated fact the Fortuna Buffet Restaurant is up there.
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.

Norman, is this the area you say (Northern entrance to the station) that will be open for the ashes in a few days?

Looks like they decided to move the location of the crane too.
Walking on over....
