It's behind the fenced off area, no dramas here.

The demolition of the carpark/Hajek Plaza is now in full swing, a lot of the larger pieces in the plaza came down yesterday.

Whats happening with the pieces themselves? Hopefully they are reutilized elsewhere, like in one of the parklands as a part of a play space.

Would be nice but last I heard they are being demolished. It would be really hard to move them and they would need refurbishment anyway. Would probably be cheaper to build new replicas and they aren't loved enough to make that worthwhile.

They took a couple of the small ones out right at the start of the redevelopment - from memory they were going to be reused in the parklands or something...

Earlier this month, the former Railway Station Newsagent had the lights switched back on after almost three years.

I was told that this is going to become an admin area for the casino upgrade.

Advertiser incorrect as usual. Perhaps they are thinking of SkyCity - different site, different developer. The office tower core won't start rising until at least mid next year. The basement/carpark retaining works for the overall festival plaza site should commence soon, following on from the demolition which is obviously underway now. The works are not being delayed by grade separation - this has nothing to do with it. In addition, I think people are confusing the plaza/carpark works with the tower works - they are related but separate packages.

In the original DA, Walker requested an additional 2 years on the standard approval from the outset. So it doesn't appear they've ever been in too much of a hurry with the tower.

I'm wary of this. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
The Marshall Government will replace the Riverbank Authority with an advisory committee populated by nearby property owners and occupiers and the city council.

Roger Cook AM, one of the founders of the Australian commercial real estate giant Colliers International, will chair the Riverbank Entertainment Precinct Advisory Committee (REPAC).

Cook has a long history in the development and real estate industries and has served as chairman of the board of the Motor Accident Commission.

The committee will report directly to the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Local Government Stephan Knoll, unlike its predecessor, which exerted a more direct managerial role over the Riverbank Precinct.

Knoll will appoint a representative each from SkyCity Casino, the InterContinental Hotel, Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide Festival Centre, the Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority, the Adelaide City Council and Renewal SA to sit on the committee.

What's the reason for the change? I seemed to be of the (laypersons) opinion that things were happening and getting done there on the riverbank ...

You're right. One of the key men was John Hanlon, the RenewalSA boss. A very driven man who has made sure plans for the area were seen through.

There are no distinct reasons provided in the article other than this: 'REPAC will advise on major capital projects, the development of a Precinct Master Plan, coordinating events, signage, lighting, branding and marketing for the precinct, which extends from Bowden to Hackney.

“The Committee will be charged with providing advice about how best to maximise the massive economic and job creation potential that exists within our Riverbank precinct,” Knoll said in a statement to InDaily.'

I just don't see the need for the change, and I certainly don't see any need to include someone from the ACC.
