[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million
reading between the lines of what political scribes have been talking about (Mike Smithson et al) the Libs have been targeting what they considered Labor jobs for mates.
Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but in this instance I don't even know the repercussions,

So much for 'getting on with the job of governing'. Not like the Libs can talk about jobs for mates - Rob Lucas is a prime example.Waewick wrote:reading between the lines of what political scribes have been talking about (Mike Smithson et al) the Libs have been targeting what they considered Labor jobs for mates.

The car park is almost completely demolished except for a few bays right up against King William Rd.

It’ll be interesting to see how much they get done by Christmas once the sites cleared.

Hey guys, it has been far too long since I was last on this forum! Glad to see nothing has changed!
What's the approx date of this one being completed/opened to the public? Also, is it expected to be delayed?

Stage 2 by 2022 . This entails the retail parts of it and the office tower

Does anyone know if they ended up saving the sculptures? There was talk that they were going to install them elsewhere.

City Sign / Hajek Plaza / Adelaide Urban Iconography? No. It was designed to be a single artwork, so selectively saving and moving individual parts was not desirable, and some of it was in severe disrepair sadly.

A couple of the short posts were definitely removed prior to the rest of the demolition. There was talk about using them elsewhere but not sure if there are concrete (excuse the pun) plans or not.

The best info I can find is on the Adelaide Riverbank website but I don't know how often it's updated?

Thanks Stryker and Melonhead for the great pics - really goes to show what a huge site the Festival Plaza is - it kinda feels like a huge part of the city centre is being reconstructed (and I guess it is!). If they get this right - the urban elements of the plaza itself, the retail component, the aesthetics of the tower and tenancy mix and the right links to the casino, station, riverfront etc. it will be a real game changer for Adelaide.

When’s the office tower going to start? Seems odd that they’d build the car park and not start the tower too.
