From what I saw on TV last night, the problem columns are the 2 story columns on level 5 and 6 at the north east and south east corners. I copied Bens picture from above . you can see there are yellow temporary supports on the floors above .These have to been extended to more floors above during today. The problem columns are precast columns according to the report last night.

The crane was being used at 10.45 this morning,to carry 2 men very slowly up the outside at the north east corner checking all the external surfaces of the columns from level 6 to the top.

For what it's worth, Kodo is now visible from inside Nordburger in Chinatown.

This is the suspect column. hopefully it wont take long to find an engineering solution.

PS it is exactly 5 years since I joined Sensational Adelaide.

Also The Storeys on Surflen Street.
So basically 70-80% of all recent high-rise developments?

It does seem that way, i'm unsure about the exact percentage but it does seem to represent a large proportion of new developments. Adelaide must be a notoriously difficult city for developers to make a buck in. We've seen a bit of a boom yes, but that includes various cheap looking high rises being built (Bohem, for example), developers going to the wall at various stages, dumbing down of designs and materials at the last minute etc. etc. Vue offered to be the exception, but that turned out to be disappointing in the end.

We could also throw in Aria on Gouger to that list above, which ran into financial difficulties a while after completion and was sold, and 60 South Terrace which hasn't had a single owner move in and now the whole building is up for sale.

Central Adelaide on Grote Street stands out for me as the highlight of recently completed high rise apartment buildings in the CBD.
Sadly I'd have to agree with you. I've been in Melbourne this past week and putting aside the taller heights of their buildings, they have far more recent and under construction developments which have more modern, bold and interesting designs. What Adelaide needs is good looking glass and steel towers at our height (so around 70-100+ metres) to modernise the appearance and perception of the city.

Jeez, you can see the myriad of floor supports on the floors below too. You'd be rather nervous if you were the owner of that corner apartment on level 6...
Walking on over....

Half of the new tall developments in Melbourne is designed by Ellenberg Fraser. That's why I'm looking forward to Realm, as it's designed by them. We're in for a treat!

I agree with Ser Noit of loit . I too was in Melbourne recently and the range and design of buildings there is amazing.

Core rise up to Level 28 in Jump form and 24 being constructed. Crane needs to rise before next core lift.

So Ben's above post confirms that construction is safe to continue then?

No work is going on in the effected area but the rest of the building is still continuing. A lot more balconies are being revealed today.

If they are continuing building works and workers are on site, there is no way it could be THAT bad.

I can't help but notice how slender the columns look, particularly one on the receiving end of a column load offset - that would be imposing some significant bending forces on the column.
