A picture of the street front from last weekend. All the temporary fencing and hoardings have been removed ready to open. Click on picture for bigger.

Theres been a fair bit more work since that picture was taken. A big neon green "29 Angas Street" sign and some further work to the retail tenancies and foyer.

Minor grievance: Most new developments have had fire services integrated into the public realm with fairly attractive or at least inconspicuous screening. But that...that's not what they did here. I know it's only Angas Street, and they're essential services, but I do think most projects do and should consider their contribution to the streetscape a little more generously.

That's not going to age well.

Agree the fire services look pretty average and the letters haven’t even been put on straight which doesn’t help. Hopefully it will receive further treatments.

And part of the article that most will be interestedi n:

Mr Jarman said Flagship was in discussions with Watpac around how to treat the building’s blank western wall, which rises over the adjacent Federal Court building.

“At the minimum there’s some work that we can do around its continuity,” he said.

“We’ll look at other opportunities as well — it’s still early days.”
So is this it for their 'treatment' of the blank western wall or can we expect a last minute miracle that saves the whole thing?

As far as I know the western wall is done. I don’t mind it. Find it quite striking actually but it’s all subjective.

Does anyone know what they did to it? It seems to look very slightly different to as it did when it was still going up.

A few from today. I didn't get a picture of it but it looks like the fire services area has been tidied up little - the whole area is painted silver now and the signage seems to be straight.

From close up it certainly doesn't seem like the highest quality external finishes have been used, but it's nice enough and at least adds some height to this area.

Why does one window look different about half way up the right side of the first photo?

It's going to look more like a miss matched mess when we start getting random blind heights when residents move in. I appreciate the tower will be a great living space, but apart from height it offers zero to the skyline.

by how good is he
I think the blank Western concrete wall def. needs a mural (like shown at Bowden, Pt Adelaide, wheat silos etc.) I think the DAC should make it mandatory for all new/similar buildings for planning consent. Especially this one as the tallest & newest residential building in SA.
