Not sure how likely this is given the site has recently been advertised for lease but could be short term.

I can't understand why there's an application to demolish the building when there hasn't been
a proposal for this site yet ? Unless this is one that has slipped through the cracks.

Estimated cost a slither over $10 million. Coincidence?

lol.

Hopefully we see some renders soon. This, with Palladium, Precinct, Vision, and Central Adelaide should add some nice bulk to that part of town. And with South Terrace and the recent 5+ proposals, we should finally see some density throughout the city and not just in the core.

There's also U2 on Waymouth and Bohem in the same area.

Sorry about my comments before, I was under the impression that the plan was to demolish
the site straight away. Obviously it's more of a long term thing.

Yeah, forgot those two aswell. Excited to see how our City will look by 2020. I doubt we will see a new tallest, but i feel like we will see a host of Apartment buildings in the next 5 years.

There's many proposals, whether they go ahead or not..... well it will be interesting to see this year.

If you add in the two uni buildings on north terrace that means potentially 8 new buildings on the western
side of the city in 2-3 years time.

Yup. I've also changed my opinion a lot over the last few years, I would much prefer to see a lot of smaller developments than a handful of new tall towers. The things that are making Adelaide such a better place in recent times aren't big offices or hotels, they are developments that are bringing people to the city outside the 9-5 hours.

I'm much of the same mind - and oddly perhaps, more so since the planning overhaul which I think has actually meant we can get fundamental changes all over the city instead of having to put all our hopes in two or three megaprojects that only succeed by being specially treated to overcome all the red tape they otherwise would have faced.

It's been a pleasure living in the square mile for around a decade and noticing just how different things look and feel from street level. Surprisingly often I'll turn down a side street and get a new view of the city I hadn't seen before where it suddenly feels 'citified'. Reality is there is enough flat zones in the city that a crop of 10 to 15 storey apartments all over the place can have a profound impact on how urban the environment is (or at least feels).

And as far as height goes, I'm still pretty amazed at the thought that Vue is underway and that there's multiple 'pretty tall' stuff on the potential list! Speaking of which, it would be nice if someone were able to update the Wiki for Adelaide with a new aerial shot from a similar perspective of the current one but of more recent vintage...

It's almost like a close relative of "Art" down the road, but still, it's nice. Not brilliant, but nice.

It adds to the density nicely. Agree about it imitating Art.

Bit concerned though about the flood of apartments on the CBD market. Is there really the demand?

Agreed. This one, New Mayfield Stage 2, Bohem, U2, Angas Street, South Tce.. As well as possible new towers at the Precinct. Surely at least 2 of these won't get done?

There's also East Park, the Lecornu site in North Adelaide and a proposal coming through soon for the Royal
hotel site in Kent town. All up there's currently around 10 - 15 apartment buildings proposed. Shuz, made a very
valid point in questioning whether there is the demand for all these developments in Adelaide.

One thing to note is that the Australian dollar has dropped a lot over the last 12 months which makes it more
affordable for Chinese investors to buy apartments here.
