I thought the hospital was having basement car parking? If it's not this will go up a lot quicker.

Not sure about a carpark, but there will definitely be a basement. On the part of the site that they're drilling in the pictures above. Any idea where the loading doc for the hospital will be?

From the plans there was three levels of underground carpark, so going to be a lot of soil removed. Not sure why they have levelled the block - maybe some part of the process to determine final levels for installing parameter piling?

Entrance to carpark will be from the old Bath Lane entrance. Loading dock entrance was up on the western side next to the SAPOL building

Yes it will have 200 staff carpark (Av. 600 staff over 3 shifts) in the 3 levels of basement car park.
They are also building a 7 storey, 315 public carpark opposite. The top 8th floor will be offices and likely to be the developers C&G new HQ.

Sounds about right, they are currently installing meshing for the concrete pylons on the eastern end of the block. They looked deep...

Opposite the hospital, on the other side of Angas Street.

A picture of the piling rig (14 Aug 16) . It is nearly 4 stories high compared to the 2 story building on the right hand side. They have bored a series of piles along the fence fronting onto Pulteny St. Sorry about the picture quality (too late in the day)

Didn't have a chance to grab any pictures (wasn't really that exciting anyway), but they've levelled parking lot on the other side of Angus Street ready for the multi-level replacement.

Here is a picture of the car park site mentioned by Patrick_27 . It is just behind the on the run service station on Angus St. There are several work sheds on the footpath and the existing bitumen serface has been cleared so it looks like serious work is about to start.

A partial basement with sloping floor has been dug over the southern part of the car park site opposite the hospital site. Meanwhile the hospital basement swimming pool is filling quite well thanks to the recent rain. Picture from Princess Street 16 Oct 16.

Update as at 30 Oct 16. A lot of work has been done on digging out the basement. Picture looking north west to rear of fire station.
