Well it doesn't take a bloody genius to work out why.
Mate, every other construction site in adelaide is still operating. Why cant this go ahead as well ???
Because this project hasn’t started yet. Much harder to get off the ground then continue one part way through.

Being residential, you'd presume it'd proceed so long as they've sold enough apartments (and can manage social distancing in construction). Perhaps they haven't got finance.

Sorry to bump this thread, but just had a look on the Monument Facebook page and they commented this to someone about a week ago: "Monument East Terrace: we will be making announcements in the coming weeks. There have been delays and complications due to Covid 19."

Was kind of hoping this was forgotten about and wouldn’t go up...

The east end not only needs to survive it needs to flourish again.
Building appartments and bringing in thousands of people will greatly aid with that.

There's already apartments in the area.
There's also appartments on the other side on Dequetiville terrace.

The Fringe is once a year. The East End could definitely do with more people year round and some general revitalization - places like Peel Street have definitely created competition.

This forum flip flops worse than a loose bottom. Go back a few pages and see all the paranoia surrounding this developments affect on the park lands and events. Now everyone’s happy to have this turd exist as it’ll bring ppl into Rundle st.
Dwell and Adelaidian have done diddly to revitalise the area.

I think this is one of the better designed apartment buildings proposed.

The fact that Adelaidean was opened in the middle of a global pandemic may have something to do with the perceived lack of impact to the area. Coupled with the massive reduction in international students too, I'd say let's give them time before we start analysing impact to the city and surrounding areas.
Walking on over....

I've never been against this development.

Why are people against this? It appears it will be behind the "heritage buildings" keeping the street scape the same. It looks decent, theres a very plain 8(ish) story apartment building next door, so is the argument about this being too tall? too short? It's location is great, right on the parklands and it's at the end of Rundle Street, which should remain as it is, but this a park frontage block on East Tce, which already has apartments next door and 100m south. If the design is good, it will block out the lump that is Adelaidean when entering Rundle Street from the east. This building is suitable for this block, it would not be suitable if it was behind the Stag, theres should be no apartment towers on that side of Rundle Street, it fits into an unused area behind 300 Rundle Street.
