I'm pretty sure 292-300 is the location of the Old East end markets that closed in the 80s. It includes the buildings on the front that have san churo, oyster bar but the proposal might include keeping them.

You can see the building through the alleyway between oyster bar and PJs.

Correct - it's that whole corner including the two empty shops on Rundle (formerly the sushi place and inconvenienced store) right around to the oyster bar, including the shared car parking out the back. It's not a deep parcel, so I hope the design can be setback nicely so it doesn't loom too much on the street scape. Height and Rundle Street's character can co-exist if done well.

This could easily be our first MERITON SERVICED APARTMENT building. They are everywhere interstate. We stayed in one in Sydney recently.

As far as I am aware there is no indication Meriton will be entering the SA market. Hope I'm wrong though.

Hopefully they found a site more appropriate, This part of Adelaide should remain a more heritage focused area.

This one is going before the DAC this Thursday which they are recommending is REFUSED. I'm sure this will come out in the papers in next few days.

Some details: 79m, 23 Levels, 81 apartments. The East Terrace facades are staying as a podium. Not sure about the green and glue glass. Why cant we have architecturally nice buildings proposed! At least its not a box!

Interesting to note the original proposal was around 90m high and looked much better then the current in my opinion.

They should leave Rundle Street low-rise in my opinion. Otherwise it will lose its unique character with the historical buildings.

It's pretty stark and looks... interesting. I'd still approve it though. I think we need (as a city) to realise that due to PAN-OPs etc our 'talls' will need to gravitate to the traditionally low rise eastern part of the city. I know many of the city's population would prefer these be concentrated in the more industrial western side of the CBD but we're already pushing maximum heights over there with many of the new developments. I think like Bohem it would stand out for a few years before presumably being joined by some other buildings of similar heights making them a bit more congruent with their surroundings.

To be honest i prefer this one. Its very rare we get any high rises in Adelaide that have anything other than a rectangular floor plan, so im all for it. I think the height and design is well suited to the area. The flowing organic nature of the floor plates lends itself to the parklands in my opinion.
