Hq are obviously investing good money on hindley street, but they can probably get a return on it with the volume of patrons.

It was never a good business case with Atlantis. Night clubs are volatile. I am not sure how Atlantis ever thought that they could spend so much money on a small club and get a return on it.

We already know about Atlantis closing down, mentioned here but quite a few pages back.

Driving past Atlantis last night, it looked as though it has closed down. The owners spent way too much money and obviously couldn't get a return on it.
Atlantis was shit. Just like the rebirth of Heaven was shit. Some of the same people involved in both attempts.
Some of those people were also involved in another venture across the street from Atlantis, near Savvy I believe, quite a few years ago as well. That failed too.
You're not referring to the Pearl are you? Isn't that what Savvy was changed to?
I forget what it was called, only went there once, was shit. Had a roof top area as well.
It was literally right on the corner there. It was at least a few years before they tried the Heaven 2 thing at St Pauls.

Appart from the fact that it looks awful, I can't honestly see how they're going to have this building finished in time for their first booked gig which is September 11? In-fact the whole second half of September has bands playing at the new HQ...

Yeah I am puzzled by this aswell. Many of these gigs are already sold out too.

Interesting they are keeping the name 'HQ'. Instead of just 'Q'

I suspect that they'll be using the old venue if things aren't completed in time. You'll note that despite removing their branding from the old HQ, the building hasn't had any kind of gutting yet.

Didn't all the internal items get sold off earlier this year though?, e.g. disco ball, equipment, chairs

Might have a suss this weekend of the new HQ

Looks like Atlantis has been sold to the owners of Downtown (formerly XL Superclub).

There's a sign on the door of atlantis saying that it's closed for renovations and encourages people to go to downtown in the meantime.

Walked past HQ over the weekend, and still do not understand how they plan on completing this by mid next month. Still lots of work to be done.

They don't, they announced last week that the opening was going to be delayed.

I believe this is their second delay, too: the first was because the grid for Hindley Street didn't have enough power to supply what it does now in addition to a new massive club.

So far they've moved two shows to The Gov, pretty shit outcome for the acts involved; I know that one of them is definitely not the sort of band that would expect to come halfway across the world to play at a pub-like venue. Interesting that The Gov has agreed to take on these shows considering HQ has long been its main competitor.

I believe some will also be moved to the Fat Controller. Just go on their FB page if you are that concerned.
