I thought it was a temporary hoarding to protect the stairs from the construction site.

I think what he's getting at... is if this is the fire escape for the AFL building, then should it not have had its own wall around the stairwell?

I'm looking at the State Admin Centre across the road and that particular building has an external stairwell as well. Are they really that uncommon? Or am I on the wrong track here and just totally confused myself?

External certainly not uncommon, but I guess the question is how it is enclosed. Maybe it only had a rail or cage structure - sufficient to stop people falling out, insufficient to stop debris flying in from the construction?

I'm not sure what building you were looking at but I am fairly certain SAC does not have an external stairwell. :/

Gee it's like every demolition site has Royal Park Salvage doing the demo work.

They didn't do the demo work for Calvary hospital but that was only a small job.

I get the impression that RPS are the only demolition company who have the capability to do the big demolition jobs.
There hasn't been much large scale demolition work in Adelaide over the years. There probably just hasn't
been enough work around for there to be several large scale demolition companies.

I would suggest McMahon Services have even more resources and capabilities than RPS

Plumbing work is being undertaken as at 5 Dec 2016. Picture shows some type of below floor storage tank - possibly a grease trap?

Another view of the crane from today. I thought it was surprisingly tall in person, especially considering they haven't really done a lot more than the foundations at this stage.

This crane looks especially tall when viewed with the other nearby cranes.
It doesn't look like it has a climbing collar, or does it? Perhaps it will remain at that height throughout construction.
