If there's one thing worse than a blank western wall... it's a blank northern wall.

To think there's a third tower to the north of this site.

Would have to be Adelaide's densest 'block' once completed in terms of population density?

My recollection is the next stage is 2 towers with 300 apartments - slightly more than this stage's 270. Altitude has 150 apartments. The midrise buildings 132. Total ~850. Assuming 1.7 people per apartment that's around 1,450 residents on the block. Roughly half of the population of the whole city west area (bound by grote, king willy, west and north terraces) before the development.

If you take the block to be all the land bound by Waymouth, morphett and elizabeth, there will still be big chunks left over for towers as well. The corner of morphett and waymouth on light square should be mint for a tower.

Except the majority of Galley and Altitude are cheap hotel rooms and large swathes of both buildings are unoccupied at any given time. Oaks have also secured a chunk of West Franklin, although I understand much smaller.

Hopefully WF can bring a better sense of residency and community to the area with some permanent residents, as there's a really transient feel down there at the moment.

Good points.

The first buyers in to Altitude essentially took one for the team. It was an odd development because it was the council driving a development to spur further development. The complete reverse of normal - people usually buy for the location first and foremost. I remember the original 5 tower scheme 15 years ago and thought it had failure written all over it. Over time though these things like social infrastructure, retail etc will catch up and the area will eventually take more owner occupiers than transients. Those other towers nearby obviously help things.

In the meantime when an apartment development has appeal as an investment but the location isn't genuinely livable.... yeah, it gets Oaks'd quick smart.

The late night massage parlour doesn't create a good ambience either.

I reckon you should check it out GHS. Might help you to loosen up a bit.
