Nah that can't be possible. That's a pretty severe building mistake to make. Is council / DAC aware of this!?

Despite appearing that way in the picture, I'm fairly sure it's not right on the boundary of the neighbouring site. The development report says it is set back 3m from the western property boundary, so it's all good if that's the case.

Still, a pretty abysmal western view from the first two or three floors, and potentially for all of those western floors if something is one day built on the City Collision Centre site.

Perhaps the crash repairers "drive in" is actually a shared access lane or something of the sort?

No it's internal to the building.

There is a small drive way as part of this project site and the crash repair shop has its own drive in under cover entrance. also the rear (southern side) appears to change shape at level 6
with concrete panels that slope inwards. Pictures Friday 24/3/2017.

Usually i'm kinda pleased when a building ends up looking similar to the renders........ but in this case, i'm mortified

Mixes up the grain nicely. Can't all be glass boxes.

I don't think we have enough glass in our city for this to provide a difference. So much brown/beige dated cement boxes. This is just another.

I think it's the swiss cheese on beige bread look that makes this unappealing. It's not a visually interesting design because there's not enough rhythm, and too much disorder. The contrast between the two is too great.

It's like a giant version of this:

Could look great at night.

How about we let the building get to it's full form, including glazing and full angular sweep before we condemn it to Brickbat status.

I actually quite like what I see so far, the random nature of the windows coupled with the polished concrete I think will quite intriguing. Particularly if the glazing does end up the reflective black that was noted in the first renders, it could be quite stunning on dusk to look at.

Let's give it time.
Walking on over....
