From today:

Car park at the rear:

Tiny gap between the car park and the rear of the theatre can be accessed by anyone on level 5 of the car park. Just felt like the kind of place older kids will go to mess about and someone will find themselves falling and becoming wedged in the gap.

What will the end result be for the Pitt Street facade of Her Maj? Will the previous facade be kept or will it also be rebuilt?

Also are there any photographs of the original Pitt Street facade before the mid-century rennovations?

The original Pitt St side is being kept and restored (as obviously is the front).

Mural proposed for Her Majesty's blank wall.
From In Daily
Mural design revealed for new-look Her Majesty's Theatre

A huge mural featuring South Australian native plants and flowers will grace the side of the newly completed Her Majesty’s Theatre when it reopens in 2020 after a major $66 million redevelopment.

South Australian artist Yvonne East has beaten a field of artists to win the right to paint her 130sqm design featuring species including beaked hakea, blue gum and purple cockatoo on the back wall of the theatre, visible via Rowlands Place.

When it came to the design, East’s brief was to create something that evokes a sense of calm and curiosity in passersby.

“Inspired by Her Majesty’s Theatre and the rich performing arts history of Adelaide, the design is a bouquet of South Australian native flowers, to honour and applaud the grand dame at the end of each performance,” says East, who was a finalist in last year’s Archibald Prize.

“South Australian native plants and flowers have been selected, in a variety of blues and greens, to provide detail and visual interest yet also to integrate soothing colours.

I know the Maj is a heritage listed building, but I think that side wall would look better with a massive art mural on it.

I was actually a bit confused as to the location of the mural mentioned in the InDaily article above. Is it going round the back somewhere as they said it was visible from Rowlands Place i.e. not Pitt Street.

I had a walk around the theatre today and cannot find a wall that matches the proposed mural artwork.
