Bit too soon for this it just got concreted today. Calvery is due for a rise though or I would think festival plaza should have one soon for the casino.

It's certainly narrower than westpac from east to west. From north to south it looks to be about the same length, maybe slightly longer or shorter. Westpac is difficult to measure as it's on an angle and it a weird shape.

They're setting up the pedestrian walkway cover thing. It looks like it reaches almost to the middle of Frome Rd so you get an idea of how big the podium is going to be. Unfortunately I couldn't get a picture.

Yeah, I was kind of shocked how much of Frome Street has been horded off.

When is this building vs the new school due to be finished? I guess the North-South bikeway will have to wait a few years before completion.

Would it have something to do with the height of the building? Or perhaps site access is tight, so more of the road is closed off to allow for access?

Crane base is in. Extreme south eastern corner. long way to the other diagonal for the podium build suggests a mobile crane may be needed too.

Why on earth do they need that much road space closed for construction? Compared to other construction sites, this is overkill. A bit unacceptable really.

I'd hope they'll pull it back a lane after they've finished excavating. The trucks need all that space to enter and exit the site at the mo.

I doubt it. Calvery have a similar size fenced off. There is nowhere else to store materials. It will become particularly interesting when the student accom next door starts and further lanes get blocked off. I have already seen several near misses by motorists unable to merge - it's not that hard people.

I am pleased it is really going to happen. As a young guy I remember them pouring the foundations of the State Bank building (Westpac). We have had to wait 30 long years for this and for Realm to equal and overtake it. Looking forward to the skyline next year, finally not looking like Adelaide has been frozen in time
