View from the top of Adelaide’s new tallest building
It’s official — Adelaide has a new tallest building. The $150m Frome Central development, home to the 135m Adelaidean and Crowne Plaza hotel, has “topped out”. CHECK OUT THE VIEW.

The $150 million Frome Central development, which will be home to the Adelaidean luxury apartment complex and Crowne Plaza hotel, officially “topped out” at 135 metres on Friday.
Designed by Adelaide architecture firm Brown Falconer on behalf of developer Kyren Group, the mixed-use tower now stands taller than Westpac House.
But only by three metres.
The Frome Central development, located across the road from Lot Fourteen, has 36 floors — five more than Westpac House.
Kyren Group founder and managing director Theo Samaras said the Crowne Plaza hotel will create up to 140 ongoing positions in Adelaide’s East End.
“We are enormously proud to reach this stage of a project that is changing the skyline of
Adelaide and is the physical realisation of years of hard work for many South Australians,” he said.
The new Crowne Plaza hotel will have 329 guest rooms from the 3rd floor to the 20th floor, including 20 suites, and will include more than 450 square metres of meeting and conference space as well as a Skydeck pool area, bar, restaurant, gym and parking facilities.
However, construction of the tower hasn’t been without its challenges.
In August this year, The Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union (CFMMEU) launched legal action, claiming officials were unlawfully denied entry to a major CBD building site and “intimidated and threatened” at the site.
In 2018, Kyren Group launched court action in an attempt to block the neighbouring $60 million student accommodation development by Global Student Accommodation Australia after SCAP approved it in April.

Longtime lurker, rare poster with a bit of a favour to ask.
Former Adelaidean... Grew up in Adelaide, moved to the US in 2011 when I was 25 and have remained here since.
But still keep a keen eye on developments in lil old Adelaide! It'll always be home, there's no place in the world quite like it.
I've loved watching these new tall buildings go up from this forum, especially now that this one's been 'topped out'.
I was wondering, would anyone be willing to take some photos of Adelaide's new skyline from a vantage point so I can get an idea on how it looks? Cos that's what I really want to see, how the skyline has changed. My favourite spot is the Seacombe Rd bridge over the Southern Expressway, but anywhere would be very, very appreciated!!

Adelaidean sticking it’s head out. Taken from Stepney SA. I can now also see this and realm from the port Wakefield road rail bridge at Dry Creek.

Not sure if the crane is coming down or they’re adding more pieces. There’s two pieces one on the ground and one up the top. It does look shorter.

I think it's coming down. All of the lubeca screens on the Western side are gone, presumably they'd use the crane to remove the rest before taking down the crane. Unless they're bringing in a high reach mobile??

Actually, from my drive just then down shepherds hill road, the crane looks higher? You should be able to gauge clearly from your place Ben!

I think they took the top piece off and replaced it with one slightly bigger. Not a lot of difference maybe an extra metre.
