Did someone jump the gun in the other thread?

I've read that navigation thread and double-consulted it before making that post. SWP means foundation works have commenced, but isn't piling a part of foundation works? That's where the confusion lies.

Unless piling counts as construction because the piles will stay there for the life of the building. I'm fine with that, as most buildings that get to that stage are built, I just find it a bit ambiguous.

There was a mobile crane in operation on site this morning. The permanent crane was hovering overhead couldn't get at something?

Fancy Burger's already struggling shopfront is going be taking a beating from these works, here's hoping they can stick it out until this building goes up and is occupied.

On another point, does anyone know why these buildings aren't being painted and are just going to be raw concrete? Simply painting the building can give it a lot more appeal...

Why is painting preferable to raw concrete? Raw, there’s texture and patina, and painting just removes that for solid colour which doesn’t hold up over time. My heart always sinks a little when I see someone painting concrete.

Will be interesting to see how they engineer the extension of Tavistock Lane through to Synagogue Place

Same. I always think to the future when the paint is faded and wearing. Are they intending to repaint all these buildings every few years?

I wouldn't mind the raw concrete had the design been a little more interesting. It already looks dated by 40 years, based off of the render. I hope I'm wrong.
