Yep was a piling machine and ten workers there on sat.
They must have been testing the soil on saturday. The site is empty now.

Wonder what's happening here now, and who's doing the works. Anyone know?

Thought the application would have a bit of info about who's doing this but it's empty or just hasn't been updated yet I guess.

Work to begin on $60m Indigo Hotel beside Central Market in Adelaide

WORK will begin next month on a $60 million boutique hotel just metres away from Adelaide’s most visited tourist attraction.

The 16-storey Indigo hotel — part of the IHG group which operates the Intercontinental and Holiday Inn in the CBD — will be sited at 23-29 Market St, adjacent to the Central Market.

“The demand is there, absolutely. Adelaide always performs well with hotels,” said IHG director of development for Australasia Abhijay Sandilya. “People who visit the Tour Down Under and Womadelaide will flock to a hotel like this.”

The demographic is likely to be the FIT market, he said, an acronym for “free independent travellers”.

This will be the sixth Indigo hotel planned for Australasia, a blitz approach by the brand over the past year — with no hotel yet up and running.

Each hotel will have have a different style influenced by its immediate environment, Mr Sandilya said.

The Adelaide hotel will open in the second half of 2020, most likely in tandem with IHG’s bigger Crowne Plaza hotel, which is under construction on Frome St.

As well as 137 rooms, the Indigo will boast a gym and rooftop pool. Primefield Property will develop the hotel.

“Adelaide is currently one of the more stable Australian hotel markets and the Central Market has about eight million visitors per year,” said Primefield’s Nick Lee.

“We are confident it will be a strong performing hotel loved by locals and visitors alike.”

IHG has 48 hotels operating under four brands in Australasia, with another 22 in the pipeline.

New CBD hotels including the Westin overlooking Victoria Square, the Sofitel on Currie St and TraveLodge on Bentham St are all expected within a similar time frame.

Great news. Incredibly, we may soon have 6 hotels under construction at the same time!

- Crowne Plaza, Frome St (U/C)
- Skycity, Riverbank (U/C)
- Sofitel, Currie St (SWP)
- Hotel Indigo, Market St (commence in Oct)
- Westin, King William St (TBC)
- Travelodge, Bentham St (TBC)

Pretty sure that has never happened before! Have I missed any other hotels where construction is imminent?

74 King William St (39 levels) will also have hotel space, rumoured to be Adelaide's first W Hotel.

Possible also the Tribe hotel on Waymouth too. Their website says "Tribe Adelaide coming 2019".

Piling in full swing. No builder signs that I could see. No basement so hopefully crane up by end of Feb.
