[COM] 89-109 Gray Street | 59m | 17 Levels | Student Accom
[COM] Re: 89-109 Gray Street | ~TBC | ~TBC | Student Accom
Height is definitely needed here, but hopefully the design is at least decent as it is the gateway to the city from the airport.
[COM] Re: 89-109 Gray Street | ~TBC | ~TBC | Student Accom
The developer has applied to have the buildings demolished in a separate approval with the ACC. They have signed a contract to have the building complete by November 2018!
In order to meet that deadline the site will need to be completely clear when they receive DAC approval expected next month. Wonder how big this will be given it will effectively only be a 12 month build.

Obviously trying to come on ASAP before any other developer moves in to take their potential customersBen wrote:The developer has applied to have the buildings demolished in a separate approval with the ACC. They have signed a contract to have the building complete by November 2018!

You also have the practical considerations of the start of the academic year and the months before hand required for students to apply to the unis, receive acceptance, then apply for the visa. If your project is a month late you miss the boat for a year.Norman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2017 6:25 pmObviously trying to come on ASAP before any other developer moves in to take their potential customersBen wrote:The developer has applied to have the buildings demolished in a separate approval with the ACC. I don't think this project will be especially large but I think given the timeframe it'll be another prefab job.
[COM] Re: 89-109 Gray Street | ~TBC | ~TBC | Student Accom
That exterior is disgusting.
I don't much care what the interior will look like, I'm not a student.
The exterior is what I care about as it's what I and all of us will have to look at every day, especially if it's of a considerable height.
Now it doesn't have to be over 100m to be considered considerable height in Adelaide considering most of the CBD is relatively flat.
This will stick out like dogs balls in this location.

That's not it. We don't have renders yet. That is an example of one of their previous developments. Calm your tits.

I don't think that's the actual design, but another example from interstate. Can someone check on that?rev wrote:That exterior is disgusting.

These were simply examples of their product from their own website. The reason I posted it was because from these renders, they seem to have a reasonable, quality portfolio.

I know it's not the renders for this proposal.
I'm the one who questioned what the quality would be like initially, to which someone posted renders of the developers other projects as evidence it will look good despite being student accommodation.

This is one of two student accommodation developments Wee Hur Holdings are building in Brisbane.
[COM] Re: 89-109 Gray Street | ~TBC | ~TBC | Student Accom
Trawling through the latest ACC DAP agenda revealed the following:
The proposed building will:
-have 16 levels
-accommodation for 776 students
-project cost of $52 million
-Moto Projects are the construction company
-Uni Lodge will manage the finished project
-contracts have been signed that it needs to be completed by November 2018
-final approval from the state government DAC (or whatever it is called now) is expected to be granted in October 2017

November 2018! That's cutting it a bit fine. Hopefully it won't be a cheap design. Will wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2017 11:17 pmTrawling through the latest ACC DAP agenda revealed the following:

SWP.
I drove past at lunch time today and the demolition was going on.
Honestly, I still can't fathom why the tramline is being extended to the east end when everything is
happening in the West End.

You've been informed of why and where you're wrong above. Not being able to fathom it seems to be a personal problem.
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.
