For reference, this being finished late next year would mean it progresses at a similar rate to the Adelaidean right next door.
Brother, comparing an apartment building time frame to a student building time frame is ludicrous.

Student buildings go up like lightning. With the student accommodation on waymouth street they were doing at a floor a week pretty easily.

Hang on, so if you know all of this why are you asking?

Ok then, I look forward to this being completed February/March next year by your timeline.

In person, that core and the ground level pillars are beastly, very imposing from the street (this is not a bad thing by the way). I've long been apprehensive about this building and its design, but if the glazing is half good and finish of the concrete work is anything like what we can already see with those pillars, this might be a pleasant surprise, probably the only shame of it is how close it is to Adelaidean, might have looked better on the opposite corner of Frome Road.

Agreed. It looks huge when you come down North Terrace.

That feeds into my concern that it will appear overbearing on our prime boulevard. This should have stepped back as it rises.

I think the effect will be softened by the curvature of the columns, will be a wait an see. For you at least, i dunno when i'll ever be able to get back to Australia now with the air travel industry in tatters + travel restrictions. I wonder sometimes what buildings are actually totally different in real life v the photos on here...

Cheap student accommodation..prime boulevard...the two don't really fit together.

I wouldn't call it cheap... most of the richer international students stay in these places, the poorer ones stay with friends, family or in share houses.

Are they putting in pre-cast concrete slabs for each floor?

They look like quick form floor plates for slab pours. The same system was used on Realm.

Wow, that swimming pool is not going to get too much sun for 6-8 months of the year. 😮
