Can they knock down its neighbour and build something new there as well?
Unfortunately that ugly box tower next door is all apartments so it would be a massive task of paying every tenant for their apartment before you could do anything with it.

funny isn't it? That ugly box tower was until fairly recently on of Adelaides taller buildings and a significant part of the skyline....how quickly times have changed.

Not sure where the advertiser got their figures from but there is no way it is both 45 levels and 133m
New $100 million King William Street tower would become Adelaide’s second-tallest building

Renato Castello, Urban Development Editor, The Advertiser

A $100 million neighbour to the Westpac tower could further relegate the iconic building down the rankings of Adelaide’s tallest.

Plans have been lodged with the state’s planning authority for a 133m-tall hotel, apartment and office building on the northern corner of Currie Street and King William Street, which would be a metre taller than Westpac House.

The current Adelaide Metro information centre would be razed on the 1480 sqm site to make way for the 45-storey King William St building, which includes three levels of basement parking.

Loucas Zahos managing director Michael Loucas said the project was in the early stages of planning and declined to release an artist’s impression of the building at this time.

Property title details show the site of the proposed building is owned by company 75 King William St, whose Sydney-based directors and shareholders are Hai Guo, 33 and Qian Mai, 27 of Darlinghurst.

The company paid $8.388 million for the property last July.

The Advertiser has attempted to contact Qian Mai.

The project is the latest in a string of high-rise towers lodged, approved or under construction in the CBD triggered by the relaxation of height limits.

I wonder if the metro centre will be moved permanently or remain as part of the building? It's almost like a service facility so if it was moved, even a small ways away, there will surely be complaints by people missing their bus/ train/ tram because they couldn't get a timetable in time.

I'm sure it won't be hard to find another convenient location in the city to rent space.

1480 sqm site? Is Advertiser just making this up too? There is absolutely NO WAY the Adelaide Metro centre site is that big!

That's pretty close to the area of the building on the corner, plus the taller one next to it, which has 65 on the wall in Streetview. Is it possible they own them both?

Wait for the planning docs to go on the DAC site.

Newspapers are useless in this game.

Apparently this is it.... but picture doesn't really tie up with the description.

75 King William Street,
Adelaide
A new residential and hospitality landmark in the city’s CBD at a glance:
  • 40-storey mixed-use tower
240-room international hotel occupying xx floors
72 modern apartments spreading across 13 floors
    Sweeping 360-degrees views of Adelaide

This doesn't make any sense? The picture has no surrounding elements of the site and the size of the development would suggest it's going to incorporate the neighbouring high-rise building site...

That picture doesn't look like King William Street at all. Did they accidentally upload the wrong image or something?

Also confused as the building looks to be commercial on the inside. Maybe its a very early mock up. I can't explain.

Beautiful building though, if it is what is going up on that corner.
