InDaily reporting that the Currie Street Adelaide Metro InfoCentre (site of this proposal) isn't having its lease extended, which expires next month.

I'm interested in one aspect of this proposal: the proposed roof height is at RL176.6m AHD but the crane height application is for only RL178.8m AHD. So only 2.2m between top of roof and top of crane. The lowest hammerhead I'm aware of would need at least 16m between top of roof and top of crane. Does anyone have any idea how this could be constructed with only 2.2m crane allowance?

This is critical in relation to airspace as the 2.2m keeps the crane under the RTTC and PANS-OPS whereas a standard single hammerhead approach would require permit to temporarily breach both RTCC and PANS-OPS. The RTCC is currently at RL182.9m AHD (set to match the tallest antenna on Westpac).

The Adelaidean crane appears to be currently sitting just under the RTCC but will eventually need to breach it to construct the top levels. I haven't seen a crane application for Adelaidean so not sure what their plan is.

Time the RTCC and PANS-OPS gets reviewed and amended. Remember the old Hong Kong Airport.

Our Airport is no where near the CBD. Also the runway lines up with North Adelaide NOT Adelaide CBD. Hardly a skyscraper in North Adelaide.
If the CBD height was a problem at Adelaide Airport - they should have had a higher control tower and upgraded radar that caters for it. Why should the City and the States development be held back by under-funding of the Airport Infrastructure by government (I believe that the Control Tower / Radar would come under CASA or related Government Department).

Pity they also dont add a few extra floors of Apartments and a Roof Top Viewing Platform and aim for 150m+

Just quietly, I didn't realise this had external glass elevators for the hotel access! How cool! They're situated on the southern side of the tower.

I am not sure why people are blowing loads about this going ahead, when it appears that the hotel
doesn't have an operator.

Agree with your overall sentiment that city development is being unreasonably held back by the current airspace height limits. A number of us are working with stakeholders to try and change this. However the details you've mentioned aren't really correct. The control tower height is not relevant and the main 'flightpaths' aren't particularly relevant either. A range of flight procedures need to be reviewed and amended in order to achieve increased height in the city. The industry is working on this. Although there is widespread support for change, it is a very long process.
I would appreciate any thoughts/info people might have on the possible crane strategy for 75KW.
