Forme Projex takeover of Hurtle Square continues. The bad thing i haven't noticed about a lot of their developments including the most recent Hurtle Square one is there is no ground leve3l activation. they are apartments that have screening up for privacy. Doesn't look great. In the squares especially cafes etc should be almost mandatory for ground floor.
Type: Application Assessed on Merit
Application Number: DA/521/2017
Lodgement Date: 11/08/2017
Location: 22-24 Hurtle Square, ADELAIDE SA 5000
Description: Demolish (2)two, two storey office buildings and construct a 9 level flat residential building of 32 dwellings with car and bike parking.
Applicant Name: FORME PROJEX

I agree that ground activation is a good thing, but we don't need a café in every single building, especially in a more residential area like this.

I agree with Norman, I live just around the corner on Gilles Street and can tell you that almost every café on this side of the city that is outside of the Hutt Street strip is dead. I think the decision not to include ground level retail is actually a smart move, more chances of someone buying a ground level apartment than a small business surviving.

I don't know if there are any good cafes in those areas that could be why. We should also be thinking long term. With all these forme projects buildings the residential population will increase a lot but there will be no where local to go. I go to the city every weekend for breakfast and are limited to the same ten of which none are in this vacinity.

Wasn't there a big cafe on one of the square's corners. Real hippy vibe but with up market, healthy menu?

Surely the tin shed slats isn't the final look?

They look like furring channels, that some kind of cladding will be fixed to later.
