It would be good to see more townhouses/freestanding homes in the latter stages. I expect this as it moves towards the former Gas co./Chief St. I accept that the higher density/apartments are better suited to the early stages near Park Tce/Plant 4/the train etc. Also it would be good to see other amenities in the area like an indoor sports centre/gym or even in the apartment buildings which don’t have the gym/pool/spa/steam room etc. that most of the new apartment buildings have in the CBD (or Glenelg).

There will be zero freestanding homes, and expect less townhouses. The bulk of the terraces/townhouses were in stage 1 in Bowden East (along Seventh and Sixth Streets), and there will be a small handful attached the back of two apartment developments on the north side of Gibson St (The Standard, and whatever goes up directly opposite the town square - where Bike Kitchen was).

More townhouses will be in the general area when the various light industry start to sell up (which many are planning, council has already been putting out surveys for community feedback on how they want to see it managed), but they won't be a part of the Bowden project.

Renders for Park Central suggested a gym for the commercial space. Obviously conceptual, but clearly shows developers are thinking along those lines (there is a kickboxing focussed one already in the Bowden Business Park, which will be staying). I'm more curious on the long term plans for Cirkidz - hopefully they're given a new space within the area when the time comes to develop that block.

Possibly but I also think there is only so much demand for apartments vs townhouses/freestanding homes esp. considering all the thousands of others apartments that are being built/for sale (for similar price) in the city and its surrounds. The market will dictate which future apartments proceed/get built as they will need to sell them off the plan first.

Well, so much for that. The Park Tce wall of Plant 1 has just been demolished. Pretty disappointing.

Signs for a brick recycling company are there, so I guess they’ll re-appear elsewhere in Bowden.

The demolition didn't look like it was done in a manner that would allow for the bricks to be restored and re-used.

354 Bowden will (finally) begin construction within the next couple of weeks, until December 2019. Letter from the council sent out around the area today giving notice on footpath closures.

This one. Largest development in Bowden yet, it's effectively 4 buildings taking up a full block.

Muriel Matters Walk will be a partial closure. Site offices will be along the northern side of the walk, but pedestrian access alongside B Apartments should be there (other than temporary closures for cranes or concrete pourers). Other than that, pretty much the footpaths along the other three boundaries.

If you haven't checked your mail, then you'll probably also want the heads up that Gibson St will be closed between First St and Third St this Monday & Tuesday (they're installing some sewer pipes along Second St, for future stages).

ah ok thanks for that! I don't drive much but good to know.

anyone on here know about any good designs for common space in apartment blocks? we are trying to come up with some ideas about how to use the space in our apartment block (both outdoor courtyard and inside kitchen / lounge space) but haven't had any examples to inspire us
