I don't know how long the Golden Port Tavern has been shut for.....maybe 7 or 8 years.......certainly before it closed the owners never did any maintenance work, so it looked derelict even when it was still open.
The Colac is closed and no news on that site.
And the pub diagonally opposite the Port Admiral (on the corner of Commercial Road and St Vincent St) has been re-developed into shops.
So maybe only 2 derelict pubs......

I know the Colac has been sold and plans are being drawn for the restoration plus building new short term accommodation behind. Have also heard a few of the old wool stores have sold to Ginos (Leigh St owner)... Possible mixed uses inc. bars/live music/restaurants/microbrewery/markets & possible apartment conversion.

Glad to hear there are plans to re-use the Colac and expand development around the pub.
Also great news that the wool stores are to be repurposed, Port Adelaide really does need more residents (and people with money to spend, more social housing just doesn't cut it). Short term residential growth would solidify the base of existing businesses, allowing the shops/pubs etc that are already there, to continue trading profitably.
The wool stores, as a residential area, would be quite a change for Adelaide. I believe this would be a longer term development, Adelaide people still seem to be coming to terms with "apartment" living (in all sorts of forms).

The wool stores could be fantastic if treated well. I'm thinking along the lines of the DUMBO neighborhood in Brooklyn. Good medium and high density living that maintains (and leverages) the heritage of the existing warehouses. Mix in a healthy dose of retail, hospitality and arts businesses, and maybe some light manufacturing (like bespoke furniture makers).
Even better if can be done alongside a new Port Dock rail station.

a free 3 day festival (21-23 April) and open air art exhibition.

Some of the artists have picked up on the maritime theme, but everyone has tried to be considerate of Port Adelaide and the space.

Developer Rob McLachlan is selling land on Port Adelaide waterfront, between Lighthouse and Dock 1
DEVELOPER Rob McLachlan has decided not to be a part of the Port’s redevelopment future despite owning two allotments of land on the Port Adelaide waterfront for more than a decade.
Mr McLachlan and his business partner Bruce McFarlane are selling parcels 2 – 7 of McLaren Pde, which begins just past the Lighthouse and extends towards Dock 1.
The owner of Lot 1, Burnside Village owner Andrew Cohen, is keeping his land, which is closest to the Lighthouse.
Mr McLachlan said he would have been happy to develop the land in accordance with the original plan for a two-storey building.
But now the State Government’s agency, Renewal SA, envisages a five-storey complex he no longer wants to be part of the project.
“I would love to develop myself the two levels and have a building there but if that is going to stop a bigger thing that is more important for Port Adelaide then I am quite willing to sell my interest,” Mr McLachlan said.

Do they realise that the Port Dock station is disconnected and distant from the metro line by over a half a kilometre? The train line makes a westerly turn over the viaduct about 600m south of the old station. It would be quite a carry on to rejoin the line to that loacation.

Makes a perfect case for converting the line to light rail, then tracks can branch off anywhere...Port CBD, Semaphore Beach, West Lakes Mall....

Yes to reinstating Port Dock, but it needs to be done properly. Not a shitty platform wacked in the museum carpark.
Move the police station and courts elsewhere, build a new proper terminal building that fronts St Vincent St, and integrates the railway museum. The station needs to be a destination itself.

We are writing to say Thank You from the bottom of our hearts to all of the wonderful people who have cruised with us on the Port Princess over the past 23 years. Captain Brian (aka Cpt Cobra Dobra) and all of our staff over the years have enjoyed your company immensley. With special note to all of the wonderful children that have blessed our wheel house.
Yesterday we received official appoval to move the Port Princess from Port Adelaide to the Docklands in Victoria. The Princess left this morning on her special journey.
We know that many of you will be disappointed with this decision. We have tried to keep the Princess in Port Adelaide but all interested SA buyers have felt there was no potential in Port Adelaide.
Our free carparks have now been built on and with the upcoming demolition and rebuild of Fishermen's Wharf Market a few feet away from where we depart we would not be able to load and unload passengers in that area.
We are also disappointed as we could only sell the vessel and not the whole business to keep our legacy alive.
We have reached retirement age and think it is now time to have some extra family time of our own.
We wish everyone happiness and enjoyment in our great state of South Australia.

But it isn't disconnected, though. The lines that run down the Eastern side of the museum connect to the Outer Harbour line just South of Grand Junction Road. They were running Red Hens between Port Dock & Adelaide on an open day a year or so ago. They'd need to spend a bit of money to do up the station, but the infrastructure is still there at least.

Even if it was connected what frequencies would you run to the new station to guarantee the service will get used? 4 an hour ?
Would you feed buses from Le Fevere Peninsula, build a park and ride to capture some commuters?

In "the good old days", Port Adelaide and Le Fevre Peninsula had a tram system that was separate from the Adelaide system.

Perhaps the solution would be to run trains between Port Adelaide and Adelaide, and reinstate the local tram system including convert the current Port Adelaide-Outer Harbor line that is no longer a freight railway.
