Update:
Onkaparinga Council’s development assessment panel has now approved an application by its owners, Federation Centres.
Work will begin next year on a $52 million expansion of the Colonnades Shopping Centre.
The expansion includes an Aldi supermarket, Masters Home Improvement store, more specialty stores and a fresh food precinct.

A few concept images and a floorplan of the centre (another with exterior towards the end of the video)

According to the video there will be another 3 access points from Goldsmith Drive, one at the current intersection with Honeypot Road, and two further east for Masters.

Work on this has area started, land has been leveled out in the area of the expansion, and retaining walls added alongside Jordan Drive, behind the Masters store.

There are various storage containers throughout the carpark (near woolies, anytime fitness and woolies petrol) as well as another large fenced off area near Kmart Tyres, I'm guessing this is for the refurbishment in kmart, which is underway, with the back of the store (garden shop and entertainment area) cleared out. I'm thinking they might completely remove the garden shop, seeing as its indoors and I haven't seen one in a new kmart or big w for a while.

Anyone know what would be going in the would-be Masters building?
It's a stupid mistake and a waste of money to complete it and only to realize that the entire chain is going out of business! :x

Myer announced today they will be closing the Colonnades store.
Not for another couple of years though.

Will they come back again after 10 years like last time?

Toys R Us is closing down. The site would be suitable for big box store, supermarket (Foodland?)

Looks good, but one thing I hate is when shopping centres do multiple refurbishments in different styles.

Given that Colonnades recently built an extension (Aldi mall) I would like to believe that this and hopefully subsequent upgrades will be to make the rest of the centre match the style of the Aldi mall.

Will be good to see this part of the centre getting an upgrade. It's looking a bit tired and there are so many vacant stores down here..

https://i1.au.reastatic.net/2a5fa6044ef ... ument0.pdf

Looks like the back half of Myer will become a new mini-major only accessible from outside the mall while the front and part of the existing mall will become 3 more. (Chemist warehouse and Aus Post will probably move to a couple of them)
And Coles might be expanding into the former Reject Shop tenancy (unless that's just not being shown on the plan)

Most malls nowadays i find are too white and bright. I dont mind the market end (woolies)

This upgrade is progressing well. There were some delays with the travellator but the new one is up and running now. The old escalator down the (former) Myer end is in the process of being removed too.
Alongside the travellator they have cut back 2-3 metres of all the shops to widen the walkway (as there are load bearing columns in the walkway so was very tight and felt cluttered. Now looks very open and inviting and plenty of room for shoppers to walk. Can see from inside Coles all the way down to the other end of the mall.
Shops should be opening in the next month or two.
