What about the Noarlunga ice rink?
I can find this, along with a dead URL and a Facebook page last updated in 2014.
The Advertiser, July 5, 2016 wrote: After 15 years, ice-skating rink in Adelaide’s south closes its doors ahead of school holidays

THE south’s only ice skating centre has closed, forcing skaters to travel 30km to Thebarton to access a rink.

The Noarlunga Ice Skating Rink on David Witton Drive shut its doors for the final time on June 30, when its lease ran out.

Centre manager Van Schafer said the owners had decided to not renew the lease because running the rink had become too costly.

I didn't realise it had closed.

I didn't even know there was one in the South.

Went there once, it was truly awful.

It was tiny, had square corners, and a brick wall hard up against one side.

This has been shelved. Good riddance. I like my Elizabeth like I like my women. Hot, dry and barren.

This decision is catastrophic for ice sports in SA. The Ice Arena will close next year, and SA will be left with no ice rinks in the state.

So the council has withdrawn but what about the other investors, couldn’t they proceed?
Maybe they could build one for half the cost proposed ie $17.5m vs $35m?

The same mob behind the Playford Ice Arena are now trying their hand at a location at Marion.

Time will tell if it will actually get off the ground, though this one will be the new home of the Adrenaline (after Ice Arena management opted to submit a team into a rebel ice hockey comp at the Adrenaline's expense).

Pelligra Group is putting forward $20 million and reckons it'll start later this year (if it gets through public consultation).

And this on the councils site from May 12th like the video above..
https://www.marion.sa.gov.au/about-coun ... nsultation

And then there's this..not sure if this is recent as it's behind Ruperts pay wall..
https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/messenge ... 26b7420182

All interesting as the company behind the Ice Arena went into liquidation with more then $3 million in debt in March, but are somehow fielding a team, the Adelaide Avalanche, in a new ice hockey league....So, thankfully it's private investors money and not tax payers money being thrown down the toilet with this as it all seems very dodgy.

The Ice Arena proposal being near SA Aquatic Centre, the Athletics Stadium and Netball Stadium will be ideal for a big event like the Commonwealth Games.

It's 20 minutes away from those venues.

Except there are no ice events in the Commonwealth Games.

Yes I am aware of there is no ice events but I am sure in this modern age the Ice Arena could be designed so that it can be altered for events that are in the Commonwealth Games.
