For anyone interested, here's some old Westfield Marion photos I took from the history exhibition a year or so ago!

Fun fact: The centre was originally owned by the Uk Arndale shopping centre company (which was similar to Westfield), and was one of three Arndale centres in Australia )the others being Kilkenny Arndale in SA, and one in SE Queensland that's also still called Arndale!

Sorry. I can't get those photos at the moment due to a technical issue!

Country road is closing this week. Quite a massive tenancy in a prime area. Very surprised they aren’t doing well enough to extend their lease, especially with the upcoming redevelopment.

Since Big W is set to close 30 stores in the next 3 years do you think Big W will reopen when after the redevelopment?

The stores they are closing are mainly in Regional centers from what I've read. I used to work at this store many years ago and it was by far the most profitable in the state. They would not close it. I would say the ones in trouble are Brickworks, Golden Grove and Hallett cove. I'd say the rest are safe.

According to a leaked document. Pt Augusta and Renmark are the SA stores potentially facing closure.

I can't see Big W closing at Brickworks, irc Brickworks Marketplace is owned by Woolworths

I hope the Golden Grove store doesn't close unless something really exciting were to open instead (like a smaller Kaufland).

Maybe they could also open a 9 level, football stadium size Aldi?

Plans are online for approval at this Thursday's meeting. Looks like they have changed significantly from original and now there are 2 stages. the second stage shows the entire 1st stage being demolished and replaced. I would assume this would mean stage 2 is likely to never happen or stage 1 is going to be made extremely cheap. Unless i'm reading it wrong but that doesn't seem to make sense to me why they would plan it like that.
