I didn't mind having the chance to enter while it is still a work site, with exposed piles and unfinished bits, and the
consortium did a good job with the showbags and displays.

Er, guys. Need a bit of help with uploading videos to YouTube...

The first file, is Premier Rann's spech - 281mB, .avi format, 320x240. I figure this is astronomically large...
The second file, is a recording of the beams installation - 79mB and the third file, a golf-kart "drivethrough" of the underpass, 17mB....

I tried uploading the first one onto youtube. 4.5 hours... still going. Figure they wont take on 281mb file. Whats your ideas?

It was a lovely day. I was hungover, unshaven, sleepy, late for work, and had just spilled water on myself. Then I hopped onto the tram and ran into practically the entire forum. Excellent.

Was it too hard to change Mike Rann's schedule so that the open day would coincide with the completion of the project ?

So for those that have been there now, do they agree that with minor modification the underpass can hold 6 lanes of traffic?

I went yesterday and think it could easily accomodate 3 lanes each way.

It's looking good.

No comments about the name yet - what do people think? Personally, I don't mind it at all, but I wouldn't have minded Glandore Underpass (or any of the other suburbs there) either.
cheers,
Rhino

I think the name's a respectful one. I can't think of anything in Adelaide that's been honoured after Gallipoli yet (except that big statue thing on North Terrace) and it ties in unison with the Anzac theme.

I'm quite happy with the name, which goes with the Anzac theme, but I had forgotten the earlier controversy about
naming it after one of the two VC recipients from WWI ...

http://hills-and-valley-messenger.where ... nnel-feud/ (April 2008)

Anzac tunnel feud

[It is understood the government plans to call the 700m-long new road tunnel either “Inwood Underpass” after
Reginald Roy Inwood, or “Blackburn Underpass” after Arthur Blackburn.

Both men received a Victoria Cross (VC) medal for bravery during World War I. Mr Blackburn died in 1960 and Mr
Inwood in 1971.

While supporting a war-themed name for the underpass, because it crosses under Anzac Hwy, RSL state president
Jock Statton said it should be named after a major World War I battle ground, either “Gallipoli” or the “Western
Front”. ]

Gallipoli Underpass has a better ring to it than Western Front Underpass, IMO.
