A slightly updated video had been posted for the rail overpass. It now features more firm dates as to when certain elements of the construction will happen.

A large crane was erected onsite as of yesterday.

I'm not sure if it's the crane shown on the pics on the previous page but it is very big.

I drove past it yesterday. What colour is the crane? There's an existing white one that's pretty large.

The same white crane has been on site for at least two weeks. There are two double-track spans of different lengths ready to be lifted into place.

some up date pictures at the south road /rail crossing now that the work is in full progress. Monday the existing rails and sleepers were ripped up and stored down to Elizabeth St next to the Croydon station. On Tuesday the existing base level was levelled and compacted. On Wednesday the new eastern most lanes on South Rd were being dug down.

As a resident, it's curious that the trucks seem to start up late afternoon and run until early morning.. I'm getting a lot of bass from the trucks coming through my window now at 1230am..On a side note, there were no trucks running during the day

Went through the Scoping Report and whipped this up for anyone who has forgotten or is confused. Seems like there's a chunk missing between the Gallipoli Underpass and to the south.

Ground level with concrete barriers separating the expressway carriageways from the service roads either side ?

Under that scenario, Cross Road would provide the traffic east/west crossing point in that area in conjunction with grade separation of the rail line. Pedestrian overpasses could provide additional local east/west connectivity through that section.

What is the proposed speed of the central 17km (Darlington to Croydon Park) section once done? I'm guessing 70 or 80kph, 60 is to slow and 100 is crazy. Currently (according to Google maps) it takes about 30mins in average traffic, a speed of 35kph. This probably been asked before. The speed of the road isn't really that much of an issue at the current 60 you save over 10mins at 70 you pretty much half the current travel time - based on average traffic, once out of the central section the other 60km can be 90 or 100kph.

They are looking to build an elevated motorway over Henley Beach Rd and also over Sir Donald Bradman. The road will be built on the Western side of the existing South Rd.

Source?? My own eyes..

90km/h is the design speed with the enforced limit being 80km/h in the trench. The Northern Connector will be designed for 120km/h with a speed limit of 110km/h.

Would we likely hear about the next stage in Junes State budget given that the current stages are going to be completed in 2018 they will need to prepare the next to be "shovel ready".

Also it will be the last state budget before the state election in March 2018 so I imagine there will be some big ticket items!

I remember reading the last 3 sections were quoted to cost $2.5b. I think Torrens Rd to Regency Rd was like $700m and the other 2 big sections $1.8b.

An overpass would be tight at Henley Beach Rd - you can't touch the Thebby Theatre - leaves about 20 to 30m for road widening.
