The split of the Sexy is so traffic using South Road coming on to the lower deck won’t need to merge across five lanes.

The split allows Sexy traffic to already be in the correct lanes, if heading to the “eastern suburbs” (as per the sign), or the city, by being on the eastern side of the second bridge.

This also means traffic coming from South Road, won’t need to navigate over multiple lanes when they arrive at the lower deck, as they should be already in the correct lane to drive towards Goodwood or the city before the bridge.

Once the lower deck in that section moves to 5 lanes, at 80km/h than it is safer to spilt the traffic like this than have it merge in a traditional sense.

The spilt traffic is how in the UK and Europe they create free flowing highways and less traffic trying to change lanes at the last minute; which is a SA speciality, oh I need to go to Goodwood, oh well let’s just change from the right hand lane over to the left hand lane at the last minute. Lol.

10 years after completion, i still see people in the right lane of South Road have that "oh shit!" Moment when they realise they need to be in the left lane for Anzac highway. So this will be fun for many years to come.

Looking forward to a free-flowing Adelaide!

So are the Mattress King and those old sawtooths going to be demolished too, or is the whole project curving around that estate?

Just like the substation at Port Road, the motorway will veer around it towards the east.

So when R2P is done, we will have about 48km of non-stop motorway/freeway in the northern/western side of Adelaide and another 20km down south, along with 76km of the SEF. Leaving about 11km for the NS corridor.

Another few decades, and someone in power will have their lightbulb moment and connect the NSM to the SEF.
Decades after that and someone else will have their lightbulb moment and say we need a ring route.

By the time we finally finish building it all, I fully expect other major cities in this country to have implemented star trek technology and beam shit around.

Not sure how old this is, but it just popped up on my feed
Tender released for early works on final section of North-South Corridor
Posted on May 8, 2020 by Lauren Jones

An Executive Director has been appointed to oversee what will be South Australia’s biggest infrastructure project, the final 10.5 kilometres on the North South Corridor.

A $3 million tender has been released to engage geotechnical experts to perform investigation works that will determine the final stage of the North-South Corridor.

Susana Fueyo will become Executive Director of the North-South Corridor Program Delivery Office (PDO), overseeing the final stage of the major project.

Ms. Fueyo is the Program Director at Major Road Projects Victoria, where she oversees a $4 billion portfolio of infrastructure works.

The technical investigation works? 12 months according to the article.
The State Government is now seeking to engage an expert company to undertake the $3 million investigation works over the next 12 months.

Didn’t Knoll say they’d have the answer to what general form the final stage would take by end of 2019?

Now we have to wait a further 12 months?

This was one of their main election promises. They've been in power for 2 years touting how they're going to build a tunnel (or two separate tunnels) and they're only just now appointing geological experts? What have they been doing for the last 2 years?
