New South Rd restrictions for bridge work

MAJOR traffic diversions at a key western suburbs junction will be in place for five months as a new bridge is built to carry Torrens Rd traffic over South Rd.

While primarily of the South Road Superway, the following video (posted Nov 29) also includes footage of T2T project at the northern end (Torrens Road to Pym St.

Also of interest (~9min30sec) is that it appears that at Cormack Road, one of the Superway bridge piers is no longer supporting the deck (gap between the two). The pier looks like it has sunk and shifted slightly towards the Superway median gap. EDIT: there's another just beyond Cormack Road.

That's an awfully mean green phase at that set of traffic signals.

Of course there's a gap... It's an expansion joint so the deck can move in the heat.

I didn't say any of that but I am thankful for the explanation offered in the post above.

No connection between you and the post I mentioned was intended. Just reminded me of the hysteria posted on Facebook. The difference; you being an intelligent and inquisitive person, asked a question. As opposed to the cretins on Facebook who posted alarmist rubbish.

I drove through Torrens to Torrens this afternoon. As others have mentioned, work is progressing on both the rail overpass and the reconfiguration of the Torrens Rd intersection.

I also noticed that they have begun excavating the trench just north of the Outer Harbour train line. The excavated section appears to be 3-400m in length.

Yep, that's where the temporary road will cross under the train line from mid -January.

The section I'm referring to is a good 500m or so North of the rail crossing and appears to be separate to the rail overpass works. It has occurred in one of the few sections where the concrete trench walls have been constructed on both sides.

The have excavated small sections immediately to the north and south of the crossing, with kerbing having been laid in the hole to the south. This is obviously the new surface road where it will drop to go under the rail overpass.

Is that for the Torrens road section or the rail bridge?

The realigned Torrens/south intersection flows pretty smoothly..it's also down to 40kp/h.
The no right hand turns at the intersection is probably why.

Overpass sections coming on nicely - the shared pathway cantilever section has been added to the side now.
