New Schedule as follows starting 28/10/18...

CX173 Dep HKG 0020 Arr ADL 1135
CX174 Dep ADL 1415 Arr HKG 2030
(Wed, Fri, Sun)

CX175 Dep HKG 0915 Arr ADL 2030
CX176 Dep ADL 2215 Arr 0500+1
(Tue, Thu, Sat)
Thanks Stefan. The times seem to be just right. From Adelaide to Honkers perfect for continuing flights to Europe etc., and for good for the early morning arrivals. From HK to Adelaide prefer the daylight flight. There will be very little sleep on the early morning one as the sun is up pretty quick.

Cheers

From October on, some local residents around the airport will need to buy an alarm clock… it’s interesting how they changed arguments for the early flights…

Flew out with China Southern yesterday and have to rate them pretty high - well on par with Cathay anyways.
When we were taxiing out though, another China Southern had just pulled up to the terminal.
Was this a redirect? Charter? Or the norm?
And since when has China Southern gone to six weekly?

I think CZ was flying 5 times a week, but since 25 March cut back to 3 weekly during the Northern Summer schedule. Also a change of aircraft to A330-200 instead of the 300.
If I'm wrong please correct me.

The plane at the terminal was a China Southern aircraft from Perth, diverted due to fog.

re: pickup/drop off zone

Apologies if this was discussed earlier in the thread, but something has to be done about the pick up/drop off road.
Any plans for this?

Going back in time, obviously the original plan was the implemented separate levels of departures and arrivals.
When they decided to move them away from the terminal, did they not think about implementing a similar structure where the car park is, instead of the current setup?
There is a walkway that leads from the carpark to the departure level anyway.

I just cant comprehend what the thought process was to give us the shambolic system we have now!

A new taxi drop-off will be/has been created near the hotel construction site, where the old International Terminal used to be.

Melbourne and Brisbane Airports now have dedicated pick-up and drop off areas, similar to how they are in Adelaide.

All the problems would be fixed if people didn't try and pull in at the first opportunity and create a huge bottleneck.

The divider they put there made things worse. Thankfully its only temporary.

Melbourne still has the dedicated ramp up to the departure level for Virgin/international/Qantas terminals
Arrivals pickup on ground level has been moved away from the terminals for private vehicles and tour coaches
Melbourne is still hectic because of the sheer number of travellers coming and going.

If there is a new taxi drop off, that may take some of the congestion away.
But there will still be issues during peak time - and not so peak time.

I still don't understand why they didn't replicate the ramp up to the departure level near the car park when they moved from the original areas next to the terminal.

3 times recently the whole system has ground to a halt simply because taxis just stop wherever they like including in the middle of the road . Some one in authority should teach taxis how to park !!!.

If the drop off/pick up is a headache now let's wait and see in a few years time when we hit 10 million pax.

So not directly Adelaide related but Qantas no longer flies to Dubai, instead focusing on Singapore for stop overs to Europe.
