News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
It never occurred to me that we don't have flights to Hobart?
Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Tiger, Virgin and Jetstar have all tried and failed at it. Tasmania does not seem to work out of Adelaide, airlines seemed to have found it working with passengers transiting in Melbourne.rev wrote:It never occurred to me that we don't have flights to Hobart?

Evening all,
https://www.hit.com.au/news/newcastle/d ... n=adelaideNewcastle Airport says it's working very hard on securing new domestic routes out of Williamtown, with a direct service to Adelaide the "most likely".
It follows news yesterday that international flights are on the horizon, with work starting on customs, quarantine and immigration facilities.
Airport CEO Peter Cock says the focus is on Adelaide at the moment.
"We're actually working with one airline in particular on starting an Adelaide route...that's the most likely (new destination) we're going to get," he said.
"However we don't take other routes off the radar. There are (new) routes to Queensland we're looking at as well, including Cairns and the Sunshine Coast."
A direct service to Perth is also being considered.

We've only just started direct flights to China which is a lot stronger economically then India.
Unfortunately, Indian people don't have the money to fly back and forth on a regular basis.
Perth / Brisbane don't have direct flights to India so it's not going to happen here in little old Adelaide.

The countries with the fastest growing middle classes on the planet would be China...and India.ghs wrote:

Just throwing it out there but what about a Mumbai to Perth, then Adelaide flight? Or Delhi/Perth/Adelaide?
Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
1) Middle class in India is still reasonably basic by Australian standards.PeFe wrote:The countries with the fastest growing middle classes on the planet would be China...and India.ghs wrote:

2) Most Indian people in Australia originate from the Delhi region rather then Mumbai, so direct flights will be to / from
Delhi, not Mumbai.
3) For someone in Delhi, a flight which goes to Perth first and then to Adelaide isn't any easier then going through
Singapore / Malaysia and then here to Adelaide.
4) A direct flight from Brisbane to Delhi will most likely come in over the next couple of years and Perth - Delhi could also be possible soon, but Adelaide to Delhi I would think is still at least 10 years away.
5) I think we have a full compliment of international flights now from Adelaide. Any new routes over the next couple of years would be a bonus.

Just got back from Bali and the flight home was filled to capacity. Another airline is sorely needed.Stefan P wrote:Afternoon all,

Yes its a pity that Tiger pulled (or were forced) out of the Bali route......fewer airlines equals less competition equals higher airfares.crawf wrote: Just got back from Bali and the flight home was filled to capacity. Another airline is sorely needed.

Evening all,
Good news, hopefully Qantas make it work this time...
Good news, hopefully Qantas make it work this time...
Info from: http://www.theislanderonline.com.au/sto ... -in-to-ki/Michael Pengilly MP, Member for Finniss, is pleased that Qantas Airways have announced they will commence a passenger service to Kangaroo Island Airport.
Mr Pengilly highlighted, “This is fantastic news for Kangaroo Island.
“QANTAS have announced they will commence flights year round from Kangaroo Island to Adelaide return and Kangaroo Island to Melbourne return in December and January (only).
“This will present with some great opportunities for travellers to easily travel to Kangaroo Island direct from Melbourne in the busiest tourist months of the year.
“It will also give locals more accessibility to transport options on and off the Island.
“The Federal Liberal Government, along with the State Government and Kangaroo Island Council have all had a part to play in the redevelopment of the Kangaroo Island Airport.
“QANTAS is a long standing carrier and a reputable company, the opportunities presented with the additional transport carrier will provide exciting times ahead for the island.
“This information is all available on the Qantas website, under Destinations (qantas.com/au/en/destinations/australia/sa/kangaroo-island.html#flights-to), however at this time there are no links available to book future flights.
“While I welcome the proposed QANTAS services, they must be sustainable and we do not want to see them cease after a short period as they did some years ago.
“In addition, if there are incentives being offered to new air carriers from the Island by Kangaroo Island Council, they must also be offered to the current carrier Regional Express Airways, who have provided a long-standing reliable service to the Island.
“Kangaroo Island is an extremely difficult destination as far as profitability goes and it is important that growth in passenger numbers continues or the desired outcome will be difficult to achieve.”
Flights are scheduled to commence December 2017, subject to change and Government and regulatory approval.

Always good to see Rex's monopoly on some routes challenged.Stefan P wrote:Evening all,

Krispy Kreme will be opening at the airport on June 8. Not sure where, haven't been down there in awhile so I'm not sure what shopfronts are actually vacant but I'd say either where Dreamy Donuts were or on the other side of the terminal opposite Cibo.
