A Qantas 747 (flight QFA1364) just flew past my work window on approach to Adelaide AP, (coming from Rockhampton Previous to that it flew an odd looking track from Sydney to Rockhampton this morning). Some kind of special charter flight? Not often you see a Qantas widebody gracing our skies these days...
I think it might be similar military charter flight based on this, which is from June 5th.

"plane came from darwin carrying Australian diggers - more troops being picked up in Rockhampton before it flies onto Adelaide tomorrow morning"

It looks like two separate 747s have been involved in a rotation of troops between Sydney, Darwin, Rockhampton and Adelaide:

Im actually shocked that the flight movements of troop charters is publicly available. I would have thought this information should be classified. If these are actual troop flights, then they are very lax publishing this information. Just like when services personnel appear in uniform on TV with their name badge on display. I would have thought we would be more careful with such information now.

The next time a Qantas 747 comes through Adelaide is likely to be on the 23rd November, when it is positioned here for what will be the final Antarctic Flight out of Adelaide on a 747.

Does anyone know if there any statistics available on the number of incoming passengers on domestic flights who have transferred from an international flight?

RAAF aircraft dont appear on those flight tracker sites/apps. You cant even see POLAIR on there.
Those listed above are commercial aircraft, so the "tracking" sites/apps can see them. But even so its not like RAAF advertise that X commerical plane has been chartered and its whereabouts. That one in the facebook link only made the news because it was a 747 landing at a regional airport.

A few years ago when the Samson Flat Bushfire had two large firebombers from interstate refilling at RAAF Edinburgh, their transponders were turned off while they were in Defence restricted airspace. They didn't get turned on until east of Main North Road somewhere, and turned off before they returned to the RAAF base. The local aircraft refilling at Gawler had theirs on all the time.

From their master plan. Interesting...
8.4.8. Space Tourism (pg 150)
There is an opportunity for spacecraft to operate
at Adelaide Airport for space tourism activity in the
future. Adelaide Airport will work with space tourism
operators to consider the terminal and airfeld
requirements for spacecraft operations.

Had a quick perusal. Two things stood out for me: potential route for Richmond Road link and the anticipated long term duplication of the pick-up/drop-off zone. That ought to wet the lips of some around. Overall, AAL seems to have a handle on forward planning.

But will they chip in money or expect taxpayers to fund everything?

In the 2014 report they actually called it a tram corridor. "High capacity public transport" sounds like something the PR team came up with so they could avoid all mention of the dreaded "T" word in the current report.

To the airport team, it can only mean tram. The bus already goes that way, and it won't be a train, so that leaves one option: tram. There's more forward planning in this than the State Government could possibly be capable of, so to bypass Knoll's tram-hating radar, they've indeed done as you said.
