Nah, theres a East Terrace in Mile End, which connects Port Road with the City West Connector.

Yes that is the rail bridge that they are placing the beams in for.

The transportation of the beams causes massive traffic interuptions along Port Rd today, huge trailers with cop cars around.

Nice to see everything is going smoothly.

Lot of work going on at this site over Easter. They've been jacking the bridge sections horizontally into position:

LOL, everything was supposed to be teared town last year when they started the project. I have no idea why it's still there.

Technically, they should have it down by now, I saw the frieght line being linked up to the new track arrangement yesterday. I just hope that slab doesn't stay there as a 'memorial' to the bridge, it is simply an eyesore. If NIMBYs start saying that is "part of our history", I am going to firebomb them!

At the last state election the Liberals wanted to heritage list the old Bakewell Bridge. However as they were not elected, I can see no reason why that slab should remain.

Why in the hell would they want to do that?, the Bakewell Bridge was a disgrace and falling apart. Liberal needs to shape its act if they want to run this state in 2010.

Well they wont. Labors landslide win pretty much secures a confident 2 terms in power until 2014.

Looking east under the road bridge, still a fair bit of excavation to do

Ugly concrete slab

The guy said they got a bit behind schedule when they were meant to remove the slab so havnt done it yet. When they dig the last section of the underpass it will come down then.

Sorry couldnt get much of the east side, only had access to the west.

Cheers
