Is anyone else skeptical this will be complete before end of feb. The gov will have to throw lots of money and workers at this to have it finished before the election campaign.
Depends on what you mean by "complete".

If you mean: commissioned and trams running with passengers, I'd reckon highly unlikely. However, I'd to be pleasantly surprised and glad if I am proven wong.

If you mean: track done, overhead up and maybe some test runs done while they are still finishing the stops, maybe.

If you mean: track and overhead done, but with some work needed for the stops, I'd say definitely.

I reckon it looks like it'll be done before the months end.
I was referring to the whole extension, I assume you're not? :o

Oh, the Advertiser and the Liberals will do that anyway.

It could be working perfectly, and they'll criticise for wasting taxpayers' money on a sausage sizzle at the opening. Or for being too cheap if there's no sausage sizzle.

If the government did anything worrying about what the Advertiser or Opposition said, they'd never do anything.

I don't mean to favour Labor in this. If they were the opposition, they too would criticise things such as one-way freeways, or electricity privatisation. That's what oppositions do.

The secret will be this: if they criticise the government on this or anything else, do they have a policy that is better? Or are they just going to sit and whine? Again, I am talking generally as this applies to parties of all political colours in opposition. Whoever they are, are their policies better?

The concreting of the special work now lacks only the last two curves. Asphalting is being done on the approaches, and overhead span wires are up over the intersection. So, with two and a half days to go, it looks like traffic will be flowing through the intersection on time. Of interest is a set of traffic lights set back about 15m short of the intersection. The South facing lights are obviously just before the points, so the motorman sees them. However, the North facing lights on the other side of the pole are a question mark. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a face on shot, but they do seem to be cycling with the other lights on the intersection as one can see the red/green glows changing.

Update 12 January: Stage 4 Tram Line Extension Works - North Terrace and King William Road reopening.

Update 12 January 2018: The intersection of North Terrace and King William Road will reopen from 6am Monday
15 January 2018 following the completion of works to lay the tram tracks in the intersection.
Detoured buses will return to their regular routes and stops from 6am.

The tram substitute bus will continue to operate, however the bus route will change. It will operate until last service 21 January 2018 between Victoria Square and the Entertainment Centre.

I wonder if that means all buses that have been detoured since the tram works began (e.g. the 150/155/157 that used to run from North Terrace but now run from Grenfell) or just the other services that were detoured more recently for the intersection works?

Only the ones that were detoured very recently (1 January).

From this evening

The sheer size of these traffic lights is ridiculous.

Works continue near the Rundle Mall tram stop

Wiring is in place.

The height difference between the road and the tram tracks is quite large!

Intersection is almost flush

More wiring above the intersection

Old poles lying in front of the Festival Centre. They might be re-used in the extension.

Good to see all these photos. Thank you.
Does anyone know what’s going on with that unfished track stretch at North Terrace? I think it is somewhere close to Austin st. where new building is erected…

The track is there for the full stretch except for one or two crossings.

The westbound track at the new Urbanest development was installed several weeks ago but is currently protected by steel plates. Earlier this week a substantial concrete slab and a pit casting were removed from just west of Pulteney St. There are at least 3 locations in North Tce where track has still to be installed, the Gawler Pl and PulteneY intersections and W of Frome St.

Apart from one additional arrow for tram turning movements there are no more aspects than to be currently found at several locations where there are two sets of road aspects and one set for trams.

I noticed today that the poles have been cut at ground level so it is unlikely they'll be reused.
