Re: Glenelg Tram upgrade (#UC: South Rd Overpass)
Can someone please explain to me, why after the $48M Overpass is now complete essentially and the major roadworks complete why the traffic lights under the overpass remain and why there were workmen painting a pedestrain crossing on the road today. WTF I actualy had to stop at the lights there today as i have had to for the past few months during construction. I assumed this was a temporary measure, but it appears not. How can the government justify this?
What a complete waste of time and money!! This government and Patrick Conlon are a complete waste of space.

It is still temporary because the bicycle way is to open yet.

I thought that but why would they paint the lines on the road etc? maybe it's a while away?Tonsley213 wrote:It is still temporary because the bicycle way is to open yet.

Pedestrian crossings must have markings done to the relevent Australian Standard (even if they're temporary).Ben wrote:I thought that but why would they paint the lines on the road etc? maybe it's a while away?Tonsley213 wrote:It is still temporary because the bicycle way is to open yet.
As Michael says, until the pedestrian/bicycle bridge and the lifts are open, people still need to use the pedestrian crossing.
Once the Stop 6 opens (on the 15th I believe), the temporary crossing goes and a fence will run down the median strip to blochk pedestrian and cycle access.

Thanks Bill. The previous temporary one never had lines painted though. You just had to stop anywhere in the vacinity when the lights went red and caused many near misses I assure you. This is why I asked about the painting of the lines. Lets hope it is temporary and for a only a few weeks at that.BillD wrote:Pedestrian crossings must have markings done to the relevent Australian Standard (even if they're temporary).Ben wrote:I thought that but why would they paint the lines on the road etc? maybe it's a while away?Tonsley213 wrote:It is still temporary because the bicycle way is to open yet.

What will happen with the land either side of the overpass (where the diversion tram line went though on the North side) I would say car parking, which will be good and/or landscaping. A Marion/Cross Roads overpass next would be good. Buy the Rawsons Electrical Land there and youve got most of the land aquisision dramas over then.

Pikkie from today (just before i ran over the red cone at the bottom of the image - lol). Don't photograph and drive!
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

I reckon there's money to be made in being a balloon clown with all these community opening events. I wonder if he is employed by the Government or is a freelance balloon clown?Tonsley213 wrote:the tram stop reopens on the 15th of March
